Sony Bravia KDL-32V5810 judder effect

My (almost, now) new Sony KDL-32V5810 produces a short juddering effect every few minutes, mainly when viewing by means of the Sky box. Viewing directly through the TV (freeview channels), there doesn't appear to be a problem, but this is sod all comfort as I always watch via Sky.

Is this a known difect? Anything to be done? The picture literally judders for about a second or two. It doesn't break up or anything, it's like you might see if you held onto a video tape with sticky fingers for a second, creating a rapid start/stop juddering, then quickly releasing.

firmware update straight away to PKG1.720SA and then tell us if that works

Ordinary scart, I think. I don't have HD - frankly, the basic picture is very good aside from this wretched defect.

I've also never tried to get online via the TV, which I'd have to do to get that upgrade, I guess. Not even sure I can do that.

Thanks, the info on the update process was useful, I've done it.

Hasn't changed the judder defect, though. There is a smaller judder effect on Freeview, much more noticeable when viewing through Sky. I originally thought it was clean in Freeview, which would have been odd, but the judder is common to both. Just worse via satelite - after the upgrade I spent a tedious half hour studying the scrolling tickertape at the bottom of the screen on Sky News, which is perfect for something like this.

I wonder if this is an actual TV defect, or a known something one is stuck with on this brand? It's only brief, a second or so, but it's annoying when you're watching something at length with a lot of movement, like sport.

did you switch OFF motion flow and film flow

OR

switch ON motion flow & film flow one at a time to see if that helps

and page 86 to PAL ?

Plasma may suit you better as LCD can have these problems

OK, I've searched for motion and film flow functions, but can't find them. I'm looking in "settings", which seems right. Do you know where they're located?

Do you think this counts as a fault, or am I stuck with it, assuming it can't be fixed?
