Samsung Galaxy SII delayed until May

http://www.dialtosave.co.uk/mobile/n...inning-of-may/

I broke my LG month ago and have been using a cruddy Nokia 3310 since then. The only thing that has got me through the jibes from my mates was the fact my contract would be up in April and I could upgrade....

I have been able to upgrade for a month now but have been holding waiting for this but not sure I can wait another two months now for it.

Any other new phones out now or in the next few weeks that could rival it? I hate Apple and their Tesco-like plan to take over the world so please don't say the iPhone.

Have HTC got anything coming out sooner than May and what about that 4G Motorola Atrix thingy, that out in the UK yet?

I'm not sure about that. The costs are way wrong, you can get the 16GB version for £550 SIM free on pre-order. I think I'll wait for a bigger tech blog to post it before I believe it.

I know but when you're rocking a Nokia 3330

..and every time you get it out you are asked if it's still the 90s, it gets a bit embarrassing after a while. I have waited a month already for this phone so to be told it'll be another 8 weeks is annoying and to me 'a few weeks' is 2 or 3 extra not 8!!!!

That is SIM free and minus VAT, so it's £660 once you add the tax on.

Ah rubbish. I'm due an upgrade next month and was choosing between this and the Nexus S. Was hoping by the time I got round to getting the upgrade it would be out in the real world and we can finally get some reviews.

Not too bothered about the Dual Core aspect now, I'm more interested if these claims of the new screen and energy efficient CPU results in a better battery life.

I think you'll find it's not:

That's full price, VAT inclusive. Don't know when they're expecting stock though.

If Samsung are still used to make the Apple A5 then that's pretty much a guaranteed income for 12 months.
Availability of the S2 could then depend on how much production leeway sales of iPad 2 and maybe even the iPhone 5 gives.

And with Android being an open and very competitive platform Samsung might wisely stay a bit aloof.

It's only come down in price with teh May the 6th update though, I never expected it to be £600 at launch anyway.

I'll be getting it on Contract anyway so doesn't matter as much to me

From what I can tell, that site has always had it at £550 (even before the announcement!) . I think the £600+ was just pure speculation from people with no idea.

Noone has any idea because Samsung haven't told anyone the official dates or prices and I don't think "mobilefun" has any extra inside info.

Play.com and Clove are far more reputable and they both had the 600+ price tag.

Clove has the cheapest sim-free price on the Samsung Galaxy S2 16GB selling it for £528.

I called their customer services and they assured me that this £550 price is genuine and has been given to them by their suppliers who are direct with Samsung. So it seems Samsung HAVE told people official prices at least. Just not you.

Play are well known for guessing prices. And I can't say I have any experience of Clove so I can't comment on their reliability, but to say they are more reputable than another company of similar size is a bit silly.

Sounds more like Chinese whispers to me. My mates friend who has a dad that's cousin works in the suppliers told him the price was.....

Not saying it's not the correct price, just that until Samsung actually come out directly we can't take it to be 100% correct.

It could be Samsung leaked the £600...just to see how everyone will react. They may take this 'reaction' into account and adjust their price when they actually release it.

Samsung have not made an official announcement on the price, so any retailer publishing a price is guesstimating. They may get it right, they may not.

Wait until it is released, then we will know the price.

True. But you can place an order now, and they are legally obliged to sell it to you at that price. So even if the price does go up, you're getting it at £550. Also, Samsung don't announce their prices, so I don't know what you're waiting for given that all the major websites now have firm prices and are taking pre-orders.
