Itv player lives up to the standards set by the channel itself - i.e with one or two exceptions, a pile of stinking, low-rent garbage. I watch most of my TV on the web and I can say without reservation, that ITV player is the absolute nadir of the sector (and I've watched foreign on-demand services outside the UK). If you think I'm being harsh, check out the comments on the ITV forum.
All the other terrestrial channels and the likes of See-Saw (who I assume use the broadcasters' streams) manage to provide an acceptable service, but not ITV, oh no. Honestly, it's like trying to watch badly dubbed porn from the nineteen seventies sometimes. On the subject of See-Saw, ITV is the only terrestrial broadcaster they don't carry - I wonder why. (For the terminally slow - a.k.a the ITV Player development team - that's a rhetorical question by the way.) Techies tell me that one day, all TV will be viewed on the internet. Good - if the standard of ITV player is anything to go by, hopefully the bloody station will crash and burn and the few good programmes they carry will find better homes elsewhere. |
