TV + PS3 for under £1,000 : Help
supersleuth

HI all,

I need you advice and help.

I have a £1,000 budget and out of this would like to buy an LED TV and a PS3.

I'd like Freeview HD built in to the LED TV and are looking for 42inch+ for screen size.

Can anyone offer any advice on TV models and where the best prices are to get the TV and PS3?

Thanks....

why LCD ?

Plasma G 20 or the new G 30 will act as a media centre as well as your PS 3

the xbox on the G 20 is good

you should at that price get DNLA with ethernet , USB recording to a USB hard drive ! , play divx files and MP 3 .

this Panny does it all and more with Freesat HD as well if you cant get a freeview signal. Freesat is the let down of this set, not really Pannys fault I believe . Sky box on a RGB scart signal gives a far better picture

Freeview is good with HD really good on BBC and CH 4 .

Trust me, the PS3 is good on the G20 as well.

You could do a lot worse than either a Samsung or LG for the tv, personally i prefer Samsung and wouldnt have any other (but everyone will tell you a different story)
And the LG is cheap at Richers.

Yes its 3d but my philosophy is like it or not you may as well get it especially as the Ps3 will play 3d Blu Rays.
Which by the way the X-Box wont (along with a big list of other things it wont do and which come with the Ps3)

Why not X-Box? because the Ps3 walks all over it for a one stop solution as a home cinema and entertainment system.
Why not plasma, unless you are willing to pay serious money and want a very big screen the budget wont get you a good top model.
Hope it helps i tried to get in quick before the "i know better than everybody" brigade starts.
Either way for that budget you will get a decent set.

we never really said get xbox ? or a PS 3

£ 700 upwards will get you a top Plasma model

up to the OP if he needs DNLA etc onlly they can answer

I paid £ 1050 in costco for my 50 " G20 less than a year ago.............. it has all the toys , so its a good deal , The only thing it doesnt do is play Divxplus or MKV files onboard

Good to see Samsung 3 D 2010 glasses wont play on 2011 models . So is it worth getting 3 D just now ?

My xbox will play Black Ops in 3 D stereoscopic mode

I would second the Panasonic G20, had the 42" for nearly a year. I've no complaints with the freesat which I use regularly when the Skybox is busy.

Richer sounds are currently selling the 46" Panasonic Plasma G20 for £699 and £649 for the 42" (the 42" is on clearance so all stores won't necessarily have it in stock).

That's a good price. I know that Panasonic are about to launch a new range of tv's so I suppose the 'old' models will be discounted to clear. Having used the term old, there's nothing old about the G20. I'm loving mine, the colours are crisp, the contrasts are excellent and the picture is supeb....especially in HD.
