Calling all DWTS fans. We've got some serious campaigning to do.

The upcoming series is getting a lot of attention in the newspapers, and yet have just learned that WATCH are not broadcasting this new series!

What can we do? Any other channels that could pick up the series at this late stage.

Can't believe we will miss out in the UK. Was so excited to see that Maks would be partnering Kirstie Alley. They're having great fun and banter and here in the UK we're going to miss the whole thing.

Absolutely gutted.

This is disappointing news. Especially when I read so much negativity about DWTS on the other threads it's nice to know there some fans of the show and they enjoy it for what it is.

The YT videos are usually posted the next day (Forceten is really on top of things) but I know that is not the same as watching it.

Oh drats. I did enjoy watching it on a big screen. Looks like we are going to be stuck with the YT videos.

If someone finds out a channel that is showing it, please post it.

The question was asked earlier on the Watch forum and someone in Watch Admin said they weren't showing it. It's not listed in their schedules either for later in the week (would expect it to be on the Thursday or Friday following Monday 21st start date).

Many years ago it was on UK Gold and then it moved to the WATCH channel. These channels are available on Sky and Virgin Media Cable.

Here's the Watch message board where the news came out:

http://uktv.co.uk/watch/thread/threadID/45841

Perhaps we should all let our feelings be known there.

Cant understand this, surely this was a good program for Watch - there must be a package deal problem or another strange reason for them to drop it.

Same thing has happened to the US version of SYTYCD and we havn't seen it on Uk channels for years.

We will still watch the US version every week but know many who wont get to see it via the usual sources, they'll probably all end up at our house now on a Friday night.

Not going on a flounce, but I reckon that it may have lost it's license and it maybe the reason why it cannot broadcast anymore because the license was not renewed. Shame really.

Virtually everything shown on Watch is recycled BBC material.

Is Watch owned by the commercial arm of the BBC?

I thought that DWTS was owned and marketed by BBC Worldwide.

It seems to me that this is a BBC decision, of some kind.

Watch is part of UKTV which is a joint venture between BBC Worldwide and Virgin Media.

The format of DWTS is owned by BBC Worldwide who franchise it to various broadcasters. In the US the franchise has been bought by ABC, who make and sell their version of the show. Who knows what the terms of the franchise are, but I would think selling the programming is ABC's commercial decision alone. It would then be up to Watch (BBC and Virgin) to decide whether to pay for it and, I suppose, whether it's the right programme to have in their mix.

It's just possible, I suppose, they might see it as a detraction from SCD and that's why they don't want to show it. On the other hand, that would leave it open for Sky, or whoever, to buy it and promote it more heavily. It's also possible that the franchise agreement might preclude ABC selling to anyone for broadcast in the UK without the BBC's say so....

That was a long-winded way of saying, yes, it could be a BBC decision!

Is there any chance that someone in the US can record it and then upload it onto Youtube or somewhere like that so we can see it in the UK.

If not, does anyone know of a link that can be used to see the complete show over hear.

Thanks.

I agree with Martyboy and Fridgesoup, I think the BBC have decided that they dont want us to know too much about DWTS for some reason ....which is crazy in this world of global TV via the internet. There have been articles in the press already that the BBC want to 'woo bigger American stars for Strictly' I just hope its not one that has already been on DWTS

words fail me , they really do. What on earth are Watch playing at. At the time of the great Sky shake up in January I was praying that Watch would not disapear from our screens like Bravo and other channels because I love DWTS. Please if anyone finds out how we can see this great show here in the UK please post it.

If the BBC want to woo American stars, they're going a funny way about it by disrespecting the US version of the show. American stars will be much more inclined to come here if they know how much WE LOVE the American DWTS.

Also, the British Strictly is missing out on one major ingredient... a passionate and amazing talented dancer such as Maksim Chmerkovskiy!!!

I personally do not want to miss a single Maksim Chmerkovskiy dance, but now it seems that is the unfortunate result of Watch's decision.

Websites do post full episodes after they've aired. I watched the series online last year as I'm often out Friday nights. I'll try and remember to post a link here when the series begins.

I pay for Watch as part of a Sky subscription.

However, I don't watch very much else on Sky. It's very expensive too, twice the price of the BBC's licence fee.

I'm seriously considering terminating my Sky subscription, and saving myself a lot of money!

Details for cancelling are here: http://www.sky.com/helpcentre/accoun...-or-downgrade/

You just have to phone them.

One of the main reasons many of us pay the extra costs for Sky or Cable subscriptions is in order to get the popular US shows that the mainstream channels don't purchase.

If channels are going to start denying us access to very popular US shows like Dancing with the Stars, then what's the point of having those channels.

What are we going to be denied of next? American Idol? The US X-Factor?

These days I only have the basic cable subscription which is almost like having freeview. I don't really miss the channels I don't have any more because any programme I want to watch is available on the internet.

As I said on the other thread, I've always downloaded each show just after it has been aired in the US. I'll post a link to the downloads too, so people have another option.

You can even watch the show on the ABC website if you use a little programme called Hotspot Shield. Turn on this programme before you go to the ABC site and you will be able to watch the show there (you won't be able to see the adverts because you are not in the USA or Canada).

Shows like DWTS and AI (an ITV2 show), etc, have very small viewing figures in the UK and if Watch has dropped DWTS there is no chance of it being resurrected. Apart from anything else, another programme will already have been scheduled.

Which is an absolute blessing.

I must admit the ads I saw when I've been in the US were truly dreadful!
