These days I only have the basic cable subscription which is almost like having freeview. I don't really miss the channels I don't have any more because any programme I want to watch is available on the internet.

As I said on the other thread, I've always downloaded each show just after it has been aired in the US. I'll post a link to the downloads too, so people have another option.

You can even watch the show on the ABC website if you use a little programme called Hotspot Shield. Turn on this programme before you go to the ABC site and you will be able to watch the show there (you won't be able to see the adverts because you are not in the USA or Canada).

Shows like DWTS and AI (an ITV2 show), etc, have very small viewing figures in the UK and if Watch has dropped DWTS there is no chance of it being resurrected. Apart from anything else, another programme will already have been scheduled.
Hi Buddy. I've turned on Hotspot Sheild and went to the ABC website and tried to watch an episode of something cant remember what, just to try it out before monday's opening episode of DWTS and a banner still came up noting that i was not in the USA so therefore could not watch. Have you any other tips as Iam desperate to watch DWTS especially this seasons kick-ass line-up. Thanks

Are you sure you were connected to Hotspot Shield (icon changes from red to green) before you went to the ABC site? I've been on the site a lot this week with the Hotspot Shield switched to 'connected'.

Aww that's a shame. DWTS is far superior to SCD in my opinion, in terms of professionals, celebrities, hosts and judges (granted two are the same, but they seem more animated on DWTS, plus Carrie's a laugh.)

Hopefully they reconsider, or another channel airs it.

Did you notice at the top of this DS forum it says:

"Dancing with the Stars The smash-hit celebrity dancing competition is back for season 9. Airs ABC in the US; Watch in the UK. Discuss it here!"

Erm, and just how are we supposed to watch it in the UK???

Can anyone possibly help us out and let us know if there is some way to download a high quality version of this show online so can replay on my TV? Thanks.

The link that someone posted above to the Watch forum has a post mentioning a Swiss (I assume) website where you can watch the show online. I've just watched the first episode and it was perfectly good quality, no buffering or anything. I really enjoyed it! Fab to see it again.

I can't belive it's not gona be on Watch this season! I only just found out after looking for it in Digiguide to see if it was starting tomorrow. Such a shame.
Not that i think they will but it'd be great for a channel with HD or even half decent SD picture to show it, the picture quality on Watch was terrible!

Another tip for people wanting to watch online i sto download AOL Desktop and use the Dialer feature to connect which will automatically give you a US ip address and allow you to watch things like Hulu as well!
You need to have/set up an AOL username with a US zip and sign in, also the settings have to be played with, cn't remember the specifics off hand, there are a couple of guides online if you search.

Really not impressed, don't know if i'll get round to watching online every week

The problem is that none of the file formats the show is available in online are compatible with this gadget.

Best quality found so far is a .mkv file, but there's no software that will convert it and retain picture and sound quality. Similarly, FLV to AVI converters lose quality.

Does anyone know how can get a .mkv file onto DVD without the conversion making the picture stutter and the picture/audio getting out of sync?

Calling all DWTS fans. We've got some serious campaigning to do.

The upcoming series is getting a lot of attention in the newspapers, and yet have just learned that WATCH are not broadcasting this new series!

What can we do? Any other channels that could pick up the series at this late stage.

Can't believe we will miss out in the UK. Was so excited to see that Maks would be partnering Kirstie Alley. They're having great fun and banter and here in the UK we're going to miss the whole thing.

Absolutely gutted.
OK JETTA JUST EMAILED UK TV AT zoe.clapp@uktv.co.uk. TO FIND OUT WHY THE SHOW ISNT ON THIS FRIDAY 9PM USUAL SPOT GREAT SHOW BETTER STAGED THEN THE BBC UK VERSION STRICTLY. GO ON UKTV WATCH WEBSITE FOR MORE INFO?

A lot of people are also making their feelings known on the Watch message board.

Yes, just went on to the Watch webite and Watch said their audience prefered other US imports like No Ordinary Family. Never heard of it, and as someone pointed out, they have only started showing the first series so how can anyone have a preference if they have never seen it. Watch have a lot to answer for. They could have told us earlier it was not showing it and maybe some other channel could have picked it up

All I can say is Watch have some very odd ideas about programmes to show and what viewers like.

No Ordinary Family has falling ratings in the US and it's unlikely to go beyond the first season.

My family repeat
The Catherine Tate Show repeat
2 pack of lager and a packet of crisps repeat

Seriously what were they thinking????

Hope it's back next season even if some other network shows it

Can't believe they didn't tell people they don't even have anything up on their main site just the message boards that not everyone looks at.

my Mum is going to be gutted about this. She doesn't do watching internet for TV and it's one of the very few programmes she made a point of watching. This decision seems ridiculous especially when you consider what's being shown in its place!

You are welcome! I've not seen the second show yet and have managed to avoid the result - a miracle!
