Whenever i live pause tv or recorded items and then playback; subtitles always come on.

This is very irritating.

Is this a fault or can i turn this off.

Assuming it's a Foxsat-hdr

press ok twice, it's a known bug

Just re-read your post, never heard of a problem with playback of recorded material only with replay from the timeshift buffer. There is a menu option to turn off subtitles which should work for playback of recordings.

Since the last update I get subtitles on by default every time I start a recorded programme.

I've just been too idle to note down my schedule and do a factory reset.

I think it's quite short at the moment so I might get my **** in gear and do one tonight.

Interesting do you mean the recent 3 channels that switched transponders ?. No problems like that on my hdr.

No, , I mean the big update of IIRC over a year ago.

As soon as it was installed I got subtitles every time I started watching a recording even though I cycled the default setting a couple of times.

As I said, it's pure laziness that has prevented me from noting the schedules and doing a factory reset to see if that clears it (obviously it doesn't bother me much).

However, I'm going to go and do it this very minute.
