I've just switched on my 9200T (v23 software) and found just one video, and one audio program in the list. I don't know if this was caused by running out of space - there's only 7.6% showing which obviously is 'empty', but it's always handled this gracefully before.

I tried deleting the two programs, just empty lists remain. Accessing the HDD via the Humax Media Controller confirms no files, yet very little space either.

Bizarrely, it continues to record and chase-play programs I've set, but all the previous stuff is missing. Power off/on hasn't helped.

Has anyone got any ideas short of reformatting and losing everything?

The only reliable way to retrieve the programs is to use humaxrw in recovery mode to download to a PC see http://humaxdisk.wikispaces.com/HumaxRW. Then format the disk in the Humax. You can optionally use humaxrw to put the programs back on the Humax after the format.

Thanks for the fast reply. Yes, that worked, though it wasn't an easy solution. HumaxRW could read the corrupted files, and put them back, this taking several hours. Unfortunately, in recovery mode it loses the recording (ie file) names and date/time stamp, though strangely seems to mostly recover the EPG info. So I could use this to rename all 135 files (radio is dumped in with video - can't see how to separate them again now?) which using the Humax's remote, took a couple of finger-aching hours. Perhaps I should have used some other utility?

Anyway, glad I've got them all back. I'm a little shaken by such a total failure, running out of space has never done that before, but at least the wonderful old machine is up & running again.

I loaned my 9200 to my son for reasons I needn't bore you with, and when I got it back the drive (500Gb) was still 50% used but showed no recordings in the directory. Following the advice given by Martin Liddle et al, I have recovered all 193 of them via humaxrw and an external hard drive on an ancient XP desk top PC. The only criticism - not really a gripe as this was a freeware fix - is as the previous poster said, the names of the files are anonymous: "recovered_0001", "recovered_0002" etc. At least they are now watchable and can be renamed, so I am in a much better position than before. Oddly enough, my original 160Gb hard drive is no longer recognised by the PVR but the replacement 500Gb (ex-Sky box) one is and this is the one with the files on it. The old OEM one has nothing on it that matters so I'm not worried - merely puzzled. It runs but doesn't appear as present.

My wholehearted thanks to whomsoever wrote the humaxrw program and the one that provides the missing directory files.

The author is user xyz321; I haven't seen him post here for a long while but he still appears on the hummy.tv forum occasionally and is also one of the authors of the fix-disk utility for the HDR-FOX T2.
