Acoustic Solutions RGB Problem
Hi, My sister has a 19" Acoustic Solutions ASTV3619WS-HDMI HD Ready TV (Which shes had for over a year) & recently its developed a problem with the SCART socket when running in RGB mode.
When anything is plugged into the SCART socket with RGB enabled the screen has a Blue tint to it (Especially the black areas). I've tried various leads with various devices & its the same with everything. When RGB is disabled & run in composite mode then everything works fine although the image quality is extremely poor compared to when set to RGB & smaller text becomes too blurred to read. RGB input was working perfectly for the past year & the image quality via RGB was very good, It only started displaying RGB stuff with the strange tint about a week ago. No cables were unplugged or knocked & nothing in the setup was changed, it just started doing it overnight. Anyone got any ideas on what the problem might be or things to try which may fix it? Tried adjusting things like Contrast/Brightness already yet regardless of what setting is used it makes no difference. These settings were also never touched, On the night everything was fine, It was turned onto standby & the next day it was like this. There's no advanced settings, Just Brightness/copntrast/sharpness & color adjusting them makes no difference. In Composite, Component, HDMI & S-Video all the colors are fine, Its only when run in RGB mode that the color tint goes messed up. problem been she has nothing which is run through these connections, everything she has is scart and over the years shes got rgb leads for all of them because of the quality improvement over composite. Everything is run through a manual SCART splitter (I have tried running each lead straght to TV rather than via the splitter but it makes no difference) which has a switch to select RGB or Composite which is how shes able to turn RGB off to remove the weird tint. As I said earlier through on this TV running SCART via Composite rather than RGB reduces the image quality badly, text is barely readable. someone has suggested that maybe a pin on the scart input has somehow got damaged which seems possible since ive had scart leads not plugged in correctly in the past bring up weird color tints and stuff. however when scart lead is removed all the pins in the tv connector seem ok. |

you can get better scarts with the outside rim being deeper, which ensure its a good connection sitting right in the socket
or you can concentrate on HDMI ? its the way forward |
