- Mike Baldwin (Johnny Briggs). 30 years. I know Mike wasn't meant to be an especially nice character, but I like characters to have some added dimensions. Mike for me was a caricature and I never felt any connection to him whatsoever.

- Vera Duckworth (Liz Dawn). 32 years. This will be controversial. I liked Vera but I would not class her as the legend that many would. She undoubtedly had her moment, but I disliked the direction of the character towards the end and thought making her and Jack the owners of the Rovers was a wrong move.

I'd love to hear your opinions on all soap characters!

Michelle Fowler.

I just found her incredibly annoying. The same goes for Sonia as well.

Peggy Mitchell - never really liked her for the last 10 years she was on EE - she became too much of a caricature for me. I thought her finest hour was with the breast cancer storyline and Barbara was really good in that, but by the time the end came last summer - I was really ready for her to go, and had been for many years.

Sonia Jackson / Fowler - liked her as a child and up to the time when Jamie died, but then went off her big style once she was with Martin, and couldn't stand her near the end of her time on EE.

They are really the only two, it's rare for me to dislike any character much (easily pleased) Only watch EE.

Oh yes, I forgot to list Corrie's Alec Gilroy, totally obnoxious and overrated, along with Les Battersby (vile, and badly-acted)..Should have added Emmerdale's Viv; glad she has gone (despite her feeble exit)..good on the producers for not leaving the door open..

Nick Cotton.
Didn't like the character. Don't think John Altman can act.

Coronation Street
Kevin and Sally Webster. Don't think Michael LeVell can act. Think Sally is a really annoying snob.

Emmerdale
Andy Sugden. Character mildly interesting as a child. Not interesting at all as an adult. And don't think Kelvin Fletcher can act.

Ian Beale - I utterly detest him and always have. I guess that's the point really as he's supposed to be unlikeable. But I don't rate his character all that highly for being in Eastenders since day one. His storylines are so repetitious and I don't think Adam is a very good actor either.

Sally Fletcher (H&A) - I always found her unbearable and extremely dull. I still believe if she hadn't hung around for years but instead done the usual 4/5 year stint then she'd have probably been forgotten about.

Steph Scully (Neighbours) - she was my least favourite of the Scully's, even beating Michelle who i couldn't stand for the first year or two. Despite being there for 10 years i just could not warm to her at all.

Ken Barlow- Theres a reason he's only ever been Ken not a great actor.
Peggy Mitchell- Don't reallynow if it's her fault she had to have something to do in almost all storylines even if they weren't hers so glad she's gone.
Sharon Watts - Controversial seeing as every second day theres a bring back sharon thread but for me by the time she'd gone she'd gone through every possible storyline and yet I still only remember Sharongate where Grant played that tape out to the pub and beat the crap out of Phil they were good eps.

I agree with both of these. Peggy just became a panto dame in the end and I was pleased to see the back of her and Sonia became a sanctimonious windbag.

Also disliked Pauline Fowler. One of the most miserable soap characters ever

Oh, and Kathy in Emmerdale. Boring, Miss Goody Two Shoes.

Liz McDonald is leaving CS soon and I think she's ok - but isn't a 'legend' at all.

Yes! I couldn't stand Martin: whiny, self-righteous and a thoroughly miserable bore!

I was never a fan of Bet Lynch/Gilroy - she always reminded me of a bad drag act.

Ian Beale has become repetitive by getting married to various women, financial story lines, and his feud with phil Mitchell.

I can't really think of anyone in Coronation Street or Eastenders.

Kathy from Emmerdale though is my biggest one. Everyone seemed to just love her. I found her really annoying. I used to will Kim Tate on in her battles with her. She was so woe is me all the time and hard done to, by men usually, and little miss perfect.
I don't mind nice characters at all, but she was something else.
It was just the fact the whole of the village seemed to love her and she could do no wrong in anyones eyes, and they all had to rally round poor old Kathy all the time. Really pissed me off.

Ruth Osbourne in Hollyoaks
Same reasons as Kathy. Smug. I love that word smug. I don't see it used in soap much. But it's so appropriate for her. Ruth was just so smug, big headed, selfish, and up her own arse. I could go on.
Plus her 'I'm in college don't you know' used to drive me insane. Like she was the only person who has ever been or goes. She must have been in college for about 10 years and then when she started teaching at the college and became even worse then. B

I didn't like Mandy 'victim' Richardson either. Another one we must all feel sorry for. I don't know if she's still like it now, but she was a complete pain in the arse most of the time. She was like a mini me Ruth Osbourne, but she had reasons for her attitude because of all her tragedies, I admit alot of what happened to her in the past was awful so is a little forgiven, but she still irritated me.

Ooh grating.
