Just more evidence that the vast majority of homes couldn't care less about HD.

Sure, it matters to Sky subscribers - where people are conscious of the £10 a month its costing them - but beyond that, people really don't care. I'm sure rates would be higher if it were a directly simulcasted channel, as HD just becomes habit, but people frankly just aren't bothered enough to go seeking it out.

IIRC the first Rock and Chips had a quite disappointing/lowish A.I score, which to my mind means its the quality of the show rather than the scheduling that caused the drop off.

Coming to Channel 5... William & Kate : The Movie
with Kate Middleton (from Los Angeles) and Prince Charles (from Mexico).
Realistic scenes set in L.A. nightclubs.
Looks awful. Can't wait myself

What's betting that they shunt it to an even later slot when it returns in two weeks (it's on a week break in the US while NBC shows a double episode of the retooled Law & Order: LA...which has also flopped).

House posting a series low won't help the negotiations between FOX and NBCU regarding its future. This has been a tough season for it ever since it posted a 30% decline for the premiere.”

It's not a "series" low, during it's first season before it had the American Idol lead-in it was gaining high 2.'s (the real series low is a 2.5 rating).

It's the lowest it's been for a while, but even so, considering nearly everything dropped last night, a 3.2 rating is still good, and the overall viewers rose by nearly a million over the course of the hour, plus it was the number 1 scripted show of the night. Most of the other channels would have killed for that 3.2 rating. I can't see Fox letting it go just yet.

25% of homes have access to BBCHD on their main tv set. The average UK home has 3 sets. I'd hazard a guess that a substantial amount of viewers watched the Golf on a second/third set.

Well scheduled on the afternoon of the big day. People will be bored of the news coverage by then.

Worth noting that the series 1 and 2 averages include STV while series 3 and 4 don't, although even with that taken into account the show would be down about 1m from first couple of series.”

Its excluding HD and +1.

ITV2's anti Royal Wedding schedule is as follows :

08:10 - 16:15 The Only Way is Essex

I kid not.

Could be worse three hours of Jeremy Kyle repeats, followed by Coronation St and Emmerdale repeats.

A really strong rating for Coronation Street last night, with both episodes getting above a 40% share. That doesn't always happen.

There is some truth to that.

I also think it's more of people being unaware of it and not in the habit of looking at the HD channels.

That is dire. It's so bad even The Royal Family may consider suing. No wonder it's gone straight to DVD.

Back to TV, Rock And Chips is a piece of interesting scheduling.I think it's a pretty smart move from BBC1 as I think it'll perform bette against Long Lost Family/Big Fat Royal Gypsy Wedding that it would against Suspicions of Mr. Whicher. It means that the first three days are quite weak though. Then again, if this was Australia the strongest show would have been given the plum slot.

BBC's sensilble scheduling does not extend to Doctor Who. It may struggle to hit 5m...it's like they're trying to repeat the attempts of the Grade days and strangle the show.

As for last night - good for the soaps. Waking the Dead did well but Law and Order struggled.

It's a Lifetime TV movie.

It's not exactly in the spirit of providing a good easter schedule though.

This Easter is probably the worst schedule ever on BBC1. Anything special is either at 6pm or a few days later. At least ITV are airing a new one off drama, and even an extra Corrie is something a bit different to normal

It's like a mirror image to what happens at Christmas!

With Christmas Day this year being a Sunday, will BBC1 air Countryfile and Antiques Roadshow as normal?

No doubt if the BBC had put Eastenders on Easter Sunday you would moan.

Easter viewing is often very low as people go away for the weekend so there's less need to put on anything special.

kill me now, seriously someone needs to tell ITV 2 that The Only Way Is Essex is not suitable for human viewing.

Last year Ashes to Ashes started on Good Friday and there was a new Jonathan Creek on Easter Sunday. There was an awful lot more variety on BBC One last year.

I mean seriously, a Royal Wedding documentary and a cooking programme at 9pm on Easter Sunday / Monday.

Reasons why it won't rate as well:

- it's been off air 2 months, so has lost momentum
- the real Royal Wedding will obviously dominate all the column inches for the next fortnight; the travellers' freakshow will barely get a mention
- it's now brighter and lighter April not dark and miserable January
- it's holiday season
- it has tougher competition

I'll stick my neck out here. I think Rock and Chips will win the slot - just.

Why is it called "Big Fat Royal Gipsy Wedding" btw? Is there any "royal" connection other than it airing the night before the Royal Wedding?

8.7m against early stage DOI (when people actually watch, as opposed to "later stage DOI" when they don't), and nearly 6m in a rubbish midweek slot between Christmas and New Year against the 2nd hour of an ITV drama?

It's hardly demonstrated it "clearly can't compete"....
