Sing If You Can is terrible, 2 minutes is more than enough to make a valid opinion on this pile of shite.
My favourite comment on the DS thread so far simply reads:

"No wonder I always get drunk on a saturday"

Certainly Take Me Out isn't being ripped apart as some shows are (then again, shows which are continually derided are those which pull in big ratings suh as X Factor and EastEnders)
I think you have hit on something there, the 4 million viewers who do watch Take Me Out, are passive ITV viewers, who are not bothered enough about it to discuss it, to kick off the arguements you geet when the hardcore X-Factor fans express there opinion on the show, as if it was important.

Also I feel I gave Sing If You Can a chance, I saw the promotional video from the production company, if you dont like the advert for something, then are you really going to like the full show?

Its like watching the trailer for Bridget Jones: The Teenage Years, thinking its awful, and then when you rent the d2DVD movie, your surprised that you didnt enjoy it.

I'm not sure what you are going on about. Take Me Out does get discussed while it is on air.

Sometimes trailers can be misleading to be fair...this one wasn't. What's happened to the good old days of Saturday evening entertainment?

On the plus side, Britain's Got Talent is going to look like The Killing next to this...maybe that's the plan?

I gave Sing If You Can 8 minutes.
I hate myself now.

Thank heavens for the World Snooker Championship.

but it doesnt divide opinion like X-Factor, if people dont like it they simply ignore it, hating X-Factor is something you can do with a passion, and as probaly as much part of the shows success as the people who like it.

why is it ok to judge a show in the first two minutes of the first episode, but when you judge it on a promotional trailer for the show, that lasts as longer (if not longer), your opinion is invalid?

If we are going to set standars on when you can judge a show, should it not be at least the first 15 minutes?

to be honest I didnt see any margin for error in the "Sing If you Can Say" trailer, it did an effective job of summing up the show, the problem was that the show was rubbish, the trailer at least expressed how rubbish it was effectively.

It was certainly no lesser way to judge the show, than the first two minutes, of the first episode.

For me, at least 10 minutes should be given...then again I cannot blame anyone for switching off after two.

the exact number of minutes it up for debate, but given that this is an ITV show, you could make the arguement that you give the show, until the first ad break, to make a fair assesment.

This also applies to So You Think You Can Dance, and to be honest, most programmes not on BBC1 or ITV1.

There are a few 'crap' comments on Twitter, but not a massive amount, in the past 40 tweets I've found the following:

- #singifyoucan is completely dire
- #singifyoucan SWITCHED OFF! UTTER CRAP.
- What amazes me is that this has been popular in THREE other countries before we got it. #singifyoucan
- What Is This Sh*t On My Tv?? They Just Got Any Dead Celebrities On Here #SingIfYouCan
- what am i watching?! i can feel my brain cells slowing dying as I carry on watching it! #singifyoucan = shit!
...however it's currently 2nd worldwide, alongside the names Keith Lemon, Andrew Stone, Stacey Soloman and Shaun Ryder.

...oh.

Yes, very true the number of minutes is up for debate. I do have the feeling with this one you could watch none of it, ten minutes, 20, 30...and still come to the same conclusion.

It would be good to see a 5-minute breakdown for SIYC to see if there is a mass switch-off as it goes on. Ratings will probably rise towards the end, though, as people switch on for BGT.

Could end up with a disturbingly high average audience.

well I watched a 3 minute video, designed to sell the show, I think I gave it a equal or more chance, as someone who only watched 3 minutes of the first episode.

The trouble is from what I've seen of So You Think You Can Dance? (got that on the TV and Sing If You Can is plaguing the computer) it's boring as anything and snooker, River Cottage and NCIS may not appeal to the younger market which could lift the average.

Personally I wouldn't tune in to anything presented by Keith Lemon anyway because I just don't find him or his crude sense of humour funny. And whilst Stacey Solomon seems a lovely girl, what presenting experience does she have exactly? *scratches head*

An odd combo for a very odd idea of Saturday night entertainment in 2011.

I thought when they replaced Vernon Kay with Keith Lemon they were going to make it post watershed, which would allow them to be slightly cruder and not quite so strictly family friendly. They might've been able to push the laughs more then.

We have it on as entertaining background noise in the pub. OK it's never going to get the fanatical attention TXF gets, but isn't this a good thing. It's done OK in the ratings, does well with the under 35s, so I don't see a problem with it.
I wonder, though, how many watched the football tonight, as this was an entertaining game for anyone who doesn't like Man U. I reckon about 6 million, with a peak of 8 million.

someone at ITV should be fired for this, and they should find someone who could tell this show would be awful, without going as far as actually filming it, panicing and replacing the host.

ITV moved Celebrity Wrestling from Saturday peak time to Sunday morning because of poor figures...could this go the same way, I wonder.

in all fairness we have not seen the figures yet, and given its lead in, the first 5-10 may have done better than expected, the real test for any show is episode 2, however I suspect it will loose most of is auidence during the first ad break.

Hopefully Elizabeth Taylor will beat it as I would much rather watch this.

Sing If You Can would be just about OK at about 5:30pm like Hole In The Wall, or after the watershed so Keith Lemon could be rude, but it isn't right for 7pm. Keith Lemon is its only redeeming feature, although Stacey Solomon isn't as bad as I thought she'd be. It'd be even worse with Vernon Kay.

It ended at 20:16 so BGT will start on time. Did they not have many ads in it or was it just very short for the slot?
