Surely Sing if You Can is only going to have a lead-in of 3/3.5m anyway? Viewers always desert ITV after the football, so the lead-in will be low. Will be interesting to see if viewership increases or decreases during transmission. (lol)

Sing if You Can finished at 20:16, Attentional I think will remove the first 5 and last 5 minutes.

I agree, it's no worse than Hole in the Wall really (a pile of tripe that, thankfully, the BBC saw sense on) - it takes the same mental acumen to think up the programme. But it's a kind of show that should be early evening filler or late evening dirge - not aired smack bang in primetime.

Britain's Got Talent could be getting it's lowest lead in ever here. I'll be amazed if it held a good audience throughout.

I don't understand why about 50% of comments anyone made anywhere in the world, before the show aired, seemed to take place in this thread.

Its relatively cheap filler. You are going on like it is a new daily show airing at 9pm all year round that ITV are hoping will get 10m and are banking their future on!. I doubt the first series of X Factor had so many words typed about it before it started!

largely becuase when ive given my opinon on the show in the past, some on this thread, have told me that im wrong, and that I cant possibly know how good or bad the show will be. Well it turns out I wastn for wrong.


for the same reason the same is probaly true of Daybreak, we love a good flop. Also unlike some other threads, we are a forwarding thinking thread, we dont just watch a TV show, we discuss it from the moment its been comissioned, thats just what this thread is.


cheap filler is Youve Been Framed, and despite how poor it is, its pretty effective, its also not on in the heart of primetime like Sing If You Can has been.


Given that Simon Cowell was involved I find that hard to believe.

I quite enjoyed the show in all honesty but I can see why people detest it. I must admit a deep loathing for Lemon but even he didn't totally ruin. I actually think its as good as half of the entertainment shows ITV and the Beeb but each to their own I guess

I know it's not going to be happen, but there would be egg on some people's faces if Britain's Got Talent had it's highest ever launch rating though. All the UK trends on Twitter are all ITV related.

Into more realistic territory I suspect around 10m, but the later start time may help it out.

The overnights will obviously be interesting for many reasons.

Dumb question coming up from a non cricket fan sorry, but are One Day Cricket and Twenty/20 cricket the same thing?

The reason I ask is I'm trying to compile a list of the highest rated shows on Australian TV in 2011 so far. Channel 9 aired a lot of cricket in January and some is marked "One Day Cricket" and some "Twenty/20." I don't know whether to have entries for each or not or just take the highest one. Thanks!

They are different, One Day is 50 overs, Twenty/20 is 20 overs.

Most amusing to see our ITVistas getting their knickers in a twist over SIYC's performance, a possible football over-run, and Man U getting knocked out.

Assuming a 10-11m peak for the thrilling football semi-final (surely - as the QF peaked at 9.8m), and a 10-11m average for the return of "Britain's Got Dancing Dogs (But Not Simon Cowell)", then it is clearly going to get an undeservedly high number. I've seen predictions of 3m or so, but i'm not buying that at all. Not in the slightest.

But I can't see it repeating tonight's figures next week. Having said that, Celebrity Jizz is complete crud, and that rates well and attracts its share of Lemmon devotees....

I've been out at a family gathering this afternoon/early evening, and not only were people actively talking about BGT returning tonight, some left at a time that made sure they'd be back for 8.20pm.

the 5 minute break down of Sing If You Can will be very interesting.

In two weeks time, it will have "People Do the Funniest Things" (that really is cheap filler) as its lead in, that will be a much better time to just Sing If You Can on its own mertis

Australia played England in 2 Twenty20 games in mid-January (20 overs a side each), then played 7 One Day games (50 overs a side).

Not my grandparents, no. Even though they've had Freeview for at least 5/6 years, they still treat the scheduled news bulletins as appointment viewing despite having two 24/7 news channels they could tune into whenever they want.

I don't think they venture beyond the main five channels - and I'm sure they're not alone in that.

To be fair, next year could be an interesting guide as March of the Dinosaurs is bound to be hurt by Doctor Who, which'll affect the lead in then.

Whether it'll be worse than the lead in it had tonight (as most people will have tuned out at full time) remains to be seen.

People on here go on about unrealistic predictions by RobbieSykes, but tonight Sing for shit or whatever its called will do well, as will BGT - I'd say around 9 million for the latter and anything in the region of 6 - 8 million for the former...

Yes, it had ITV analysis as the lead in, but who is going to watch So You Think You Can Dance - will be a massive win for ITV tonight. Remember how well Harry Hill did when he was leading in to The X Factor - I'd expect better from SIYC as its not up against Strictly...

It's actually quite embarrassing seeing a large section of the population getting over excited about a pre-recorded audition show that shows the same thing year in, year out.

Long Lost Family has been given a trail during Britain's Got Talent. With a Coronation Street lead in and a relative lack of opposition it should make a reasonable start.

Have to disagree. Sing If You Can was really that bad; I'd expect an increase for So You Think You Can Dance? as time goes on and a decrease for Sing If You Can. Of course, Sing If You Can will see a boost in the final five minutes as people tune in for Britain's Got Talent.

My Father-in-Law is 86 and has had a full Sky package for years, but he still watches the One O'Clock News on BBC One, without fail.

I'm not sure about that. The Whole 19 Yards only had 4m in the pre-BGT slot last year, so I don't think it's a cert that Sing if You Can will get 6-8m. Okay, I know SYTYCD is weak competition but that hasn't stopped ITV competition in recent weeks like Push The Button from getting only ~4m against it. I do think though that SIYC will rate better tha how 19 Yards did last year for its premiere.
