I'm not sure about that. The Whole 19 Yards only had 4m in the pre-BGT slot last year, so I don't think it's a cert that Sing if You Can will get 6-8m. Okay, I know SYTYCD is weak competition but that hasn't stopped ITV competition in recent weeks like Push The Button from getting only ~4m against it. I do think though that SIYC will rate better tha how 19 Yards did last year for its premiere.

Not my grandparents, no. Even though they've had Freeview for at least 5/6 years, they still treat the scheduled news bulletins as appointment viewing despite having two 24/7 news channels they could tune into whenever they want.
I don't think they venture beyond the main five channels - and I'm sure they're not alone in that. |

Sing for shit or whatever its called
![]() I heard them trailing "two sets of dancing dogs" for BGT as the football coverage finished. And I joke about it being a dancing dogs show...

Fair points Fudd and rzt, I can see your point - but you have to bear in mind how poor the BBC's competition is, and isnt Sing if You Can more up the street of BGT's fanbase than The Whole 19 Yards?
Next week's ratings drop for it will be interesting to see .Quote:
It's a shame really - The Whole 19 Yards was pretty decent in the entertainment spectrum of things.

Daybreak are trying to boost figures by airing interviews with successful auditionees of Britain's Got Talent...bet that wasn't the original plan for the show.

Just for fun, I've created a poll for Sing If You Can's rating at: http://poll.pollcode.com/K7q (OK, there's the RPG, but now we've seen the monstrosity of the programme I thought it'd be interesting to see what people think it will get afterwards)
I still think it will be between 3.5m and 4.0m, purely because of the extremely poor FA Cup lead-out, viewers desert their coverage after the final whistle. Maybe I'll be wrong, though. |

To be fair, next year (I assume you mean week) could be an interesting guide as March of the Dinosaurs is bound to be hurt by Doctor Who, which'll affect the lead in then.
Whether it'll be worse than the lead in it had tonight (as most people will have tuned out at full time) remains to be seen. |

From what I saw of BGT it did not miss Simon Cowell at all. The panel worked surprisingly well.

What the impact will be if XF potentially loses him though remains to be seen. |

As expected. BGT could afford to lose him (and Piers won't be missed by anybody). His presence was never as integral as it is on X Factor. In fact it's almost a shame he's coming back for the live shows, I don't think he's needed at all.
What the impact will be if XF potentially loses him though remains to be seen. Also agree about Cowell being more integral to the X Factor, for a show that relies so much on publicity it would be a mammoth job finding suitable replacements for Simon and more than likely Cheryl aswell. As far as Sing If You Can is concerned while the show was fairly awful, I would anticipate around 5m or so. One thing that ITV did get right in regard to the show is the presenters - both Keith Lemon and Stacey Solomon are ideal for it as they don't take it too seriously. I can't imagine Vernon Kay doing it, the format is not one that can be taken seriously. |

fair enough, they of an that age, but BGT viewers are younger people who should know of things like PVRs and +1 channel.
I am not srue what March of the Dinosaurs is going to do, seems like wildcard, but we can say that "People Do the Funniest Things" wont provided an articifcally high lead in like the football did. I can't see it bringing many viewers in; I'd be surprised if it gets above 3.5m. It's starting very early on Easter Saturday and the second half is up against a very hyped opening of Doctor Who. It hasn't got much going for it.

BGT worked really well with the new panel. McIntyre was brilliant. SIYC wasn't good at all though. A few predictions:
FA Cup: 6.5m, peak 9.3m SIYC: 3.7m, peak 5.2m BGT: 9.5m, peak 11.0m Life Stories: 4.7m, peak 5.4m SYTYCD: 4.1m, peak 4.9m Lottery: 4.0m, peak 4.5m Casualty: 4.4m, peak 4.7m |

I reckon the rating for BGT will be one of the more eagerly awaited this year. Cowelless, will it be rudderless? Judges though mean less on BGT-its more inclined towards the ridiculous oddities that turn up-the judges assume a god like status on XF, its not the same here.
I will be surprised if BGT is sub 10 million. The BBC's line up is built like a house of cards, and the merest breath of wind is enough to knock it of its perch and BGT is like a typhoon. Its very difficult to deal with 90 minutes of blockbuster though I think the second episode rating of BGT will give us a clearer indication of where the reality bandwagon stands. As for SYTYCD, surely its only dance die hards that are going to follow it. Its about as far removed from SCD as its possible to be, trying to find an audience that isnt there, and without an elimination who is going to bother? Im sure the Daily Mail will be watching the figures closely. I saw enough of SIYC to know I wont be tuning in again, but its far more Saturday night than SYTYCD appears to be-the latter I always get the feeling I should have revised before watching.
