Also noted in the officials:
Not great is it? I remember when BBC1 could get 8m for replays involving Exeter City at this time of year... ![]()

Would be interesting to see how TMNT and The Mask as I imagine they must have done over 1m. Death Race should do better business next week.

BBC One 14:30 - Live Six Nations Rugby: 5.57m (34.7%) * match average: 6.32m * 5-minute peak: 8.0m ![]() Crikey, it gets better...! An 8m 5-min peak for a rugby match on a Sunday afternoon. I wouldn't be surprised if the FA Cup Final, once the highlight of the TV sporting calendar, fails to peak that high - assuming it is still on at Saturday 3pm this year(?). |

Low for Waking the Dead especially as it has been long anticipated. I think the show works better on Monday/Tuesday. It's not really a Sunday show and I wonder whether trailing it so heavily as 'the final series' may have put off the casual viewer.

I don't recall what Lewis was getting for ITV when WTD last got a sub-6m Sunday night audience, and what BBC2 was offering at the time, but at least it was head to head and probably not up against a combined BBC2/ITV1 audience of more than 10m. |

Dated: Dave's One Night Stand Series 2
14th April 9pm: Chris Addison 21st April 9pm: Mark Watson 28th April 9pm: Dave Gorman Sensible to schedule this on Thursdays, which seems to be the biggest multichannel night these days. I think it should perform really well for them as the supporting acts seem pretty good as well. |

Channel 5 usually do quite well with their films on Sundays
Although i think Iv seen Phone Booth a few times on C4 and E4!![]() A terrible rating for Channel 5, excluding the obvious can't think of a worse performing show in primetime in a long time. But a quick search on DigiGuide revealed the problem with C5 showing this title last night. The C4 channels (which repeat a LOT more frequently than C5) have aired this movie 7 times since May last year. The titles which C5 normally hold the rights to and air on movie Sundays are shown once or twice a year max, whereas last night's title had been shown twice already this year on Film4. Basically, Channel 4 are responsible for Channel 5's diabolical performance last night.

Pretty disappointing start for Waking The Dead, I was expecting more considering how it usually performs and how well other programmes have done in that slot recently. That said, there was tough competition not just from ITV1, but BBC2 and BBC3 too, and also looking at its figures the last few years there's been a clear downward declining trend - just 4 years ago, its series debuted with over 9m! It's shed its audience series by series recently, so it seems like the last few series haven't really clicked with viewers and maybe we shouldn't be too surprised it was closer to 6m than 7m. I wouldn't be surprised, however, if next week's rating is higher because there'll be weaker competition, especially from ITV1 as Wild at Heart is over.
Speaking of Wild at Heart, it's been another strong series ratings-wise, with 7m+ almost every week and figures up year-on-year (+4%). Its definitely got a loyal audience given how steady it is against all sorts of competition. Another series should be a shoe-in. Underwhelming figures for Dancing on Ice - despite the later start-time (which dents it) I thought it would've been capable of 8m+ for the performance shows. However it was up y-o-y vs. the same weekend last year so it wasn't too bad - I don't understand why people are questioning if DOI will be back next year. Of course it will: its ratings are up compared to last year and what other show do ITV have in the wings which could replace it and get ~8m on Sundays for over 2 hours, 13 weeks of the year which is also cost-effective? Solid for Wonders of the Universe. It was down half a million compared to last week but I expected that as last Sunday's episode was heavily promoted and inevitably not everyone would return this week. Great figure for the England 6Nations match, which bodes well for next week's big one against Ireland - could be another 7m+ figure like the England v France match. I wouldn't make a big fuss over the FA Cup only getting half of that audience though - obviously West Ham v Stoke was never going to be a ratings winner and the gap between the two competitions fluctuates depending on the teams involved in the matches broadcast. The previous day the FA Cup beat the Rugby 2:1 so it's mostly dependent on the teams involved, like 90% of sports broadcasting. RobbieSykes123 is probably right that the FA Cup Final won't peak with over 8m - it's looking likely that the final will be: Man Utd v a "non-big" team. The last time there was a lineup like that (2004), BBC1's FA Cup Final coverage peaked with 6.8m, so I suspect ITV1's coverage wouldn't peak much more, or even match, that. |

New thread!
![]() A few people have noted how the FA could find themselves a bit short of rights revenue for the next contract, if there's no BBC bid, and a lower one from ITV. I'm inclined to agree. |

Pretty good for ITV last night. Anyone know how DOI is shaping up compared to previous series?
Also thought it was worth noting, I know it's been said a million times it was starting in the Autumn, but there wasn't a specific month given, but just came across the Comic Relief Ebay Auction, one of the prizes are ".... two tickets to see Jonathan Ross's new talk show when it starts in October." So it's a 13 week run which means ( if it is on a Saturday & i imagine it won't run into the new year) that it will start on Sat October 1st and fits in perfectly for an Christmas Eve last episode. That or it'll start one week later and end on New Years Eve. ..... yes i am planning ahead! ![]() ![]() http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/JONATHAN-ROSS-...item3a640148d8 |

When ITV signed him up for a chat show, it was said there'd be 18 editions.
"The 18-part series, which is likely to go out on a Friday or Saturday night after The X Factor, will air from late 2011 to early 2012" Still at least we know it'll be staring in October now! ![]() http://www.guardian.co.uk/media/2010...ross-chat-show |

I thought for the RPG, if sport over-ran, you took the rating including the over-run into account? Or maybe I misread the rules?

Solid enough for DoI. Very bizzare how it get's it's second worst rating of the series so far even when it started at 19.10 (and we are very close to the end now with the semi-final next week). It just doesn't seem to be building any momentum at all. It's just getting 8-8.5m a week which is obviously good, and there will be another series, it's just a shame it can't grow each week like SCD and TXF. The current overnight average stands at 7.8m.
WTD returned with a little less than I was expecting. I think tonight will be very similiar against L&O: UK but next week there's no WAH, so it may increase. It's a great show anyway and 9 year's is a good run! |

Although it would mean reduced revenue for the FA and in advertising for ITV, I think quite a good balance would be to have the first pick on ITV, two more games (3rd and 5th?) on ITV4 and two (2nd and 4th) on ESPN, with replays perhaps consigned to ITV4 and ESPN. (ITV could promote games deemed worthy of it). |

Apologies if it's been mentioned, but The X Factor has been recommissioned in Australia.
