Apologies if it's been mentioned, but The X Factor has been recommissioned in Australia.
http://www.tvtonight.com.au/2011/03/...-to-seven.html
I suspect some of the judges will get the boot. Seven will probably pray for no competition from Masterchef and hope that the stronger ratings for the final can continue into a second season.

A second season starts in France tomorrow having been promoted from W9 to M6 where it replaces the now cancelled Nouvelle Star (Pop Idol). Fame Academy, which aired on TF1, did really well in France but also got axed in 2008.

In other X Factor related news, while he has been in LA Simon Cowell has apparently been doing the rounds with advertisers. FOX & Syco have already put together £165m ($270m) in ad sales for the show - £34m from Pepsi. According to The Mirror it's the largest pre-launch ad revenue total on US TV. And Syco get a 14% cut - £23m ($37m). Obviously it's The Mirror so who knows if it's true. They seem fairly specific with their numbers.

Unless the BBC come up with a decent offer, I'm sure ITV will bid again for the FA Cup. After all, I'm sure they realise that this attracts a different audience for them, than a lot of their shows.
Mind you, thank God Charles Allen still isn't around, as there would probably be a new series of WAGs Boutique every year before the Cup Final and three hours of Holly Willoughby interviewing WAGs about their clothes before the Cup Final.
Actually this is a pro ITV posting about how they've moved on since their dark days.

I still think the winner looks iiked Syed Moosod.

However on the subject of it being renewed, I wasnt sure which way to go with this one, im only a tiny bit surprised its been renewed, even if it lost out to Junior Mastechef.

who?

Was BBC running ahead of time or something tonight?

Bang Goes The Theory finished about 7:55pm and then they stuck loads of trailers in before the News Update and then EastEnders started ontime

No, the 7:30pm programme normally finishes early to occupy for the News Update. Although the Bang Goes the Theory programme was different from build as it was a Japan Special.

That surprises me slightly. I guess the final's ratings gave them some confidence but I suppose there will be an overhaul before next series. I guess by announcing it so late they're trying to stop TEN from clashing Masterchef against it.

As for last night - Dancing on Ice is a truely bizarre programme. I guess starting beyond BBC1's 7pm junction hurt it. Still a very good night for both ITV1 and BBC1 though - Waking the Dead's figures are not to be sniffed at.

Oh, and who would have thought the Calcutta Cup would beat Stoke v West Ham in the ratings. Ah, right, just about everybody.

Excellent final ratings for South Riding; it did very well against tough competition.

Yeah i know but tonight it seemed to have finished alot earlier as they stuck loads of trailers in between Bang and The News Update and then quite a few trailers between the news and EastEnders.

Yeah i guessed as much because i caught the bit about the Bridge

Headline: News programmes boosted by Japan coverage

Seven
18:00 Seven News 1.42m
18:30 Today Tonight 1.15m
19:00 Home and Away 1.00m
19:30 My Kitchen Rules 1.37m
20:30 Conviction Kitchen 1.03m

Nine
18:00 Nine News 1.17m
18:30 A Current Affair 1.19m
19:00 Two and a Half Men (R) 0.62m excluding Brisbane
19:30 Two and a Half Men 0.99m
20:00 $#*! My Dad Says 0.79m
20:30 This Is Your Life 0.80m

Ten
17:00 Ten News at Five 0.90m
18:00 6pm with George Negus 0.45m
18:30 Ten Evening News 0.41m
19:00 The 7pm Project 0.80m
19:30 Glee 1.03m
20:30 House 0.70m

Eleven
18:30 Neighbours 0.34m

Big win for the Ten Evening News yesterday over Neighbours and its highest rating for a while. I don't think we should read too much into it though, the news generally was boosted by people tuning in for the latest on the situation in Japan.

No we wouldn't.

By the way, do you actually know what role Charles Allen had at ITV?

He was the chief executive. For all Grade's role wasn't his most distinguished, at least he moved some of the more banal programming to the digital channels, stopped the ratings decline and put ITV on the road to recovery. The sports rights were a start and you could say he got ratings for BGT and TXF that were last seen when we had four channels. I still think Allen would have turned ITV1 into some kind of Living TV on FTA.

It's funny how you take into account the competition and give all these excuses when it is BBC1 programmes under performing. You never seem to do this at other times.
Like Robbie is the only biased one on this thread. Pot, Kettle, love.

And people think ITV & BBC1 are unimaginative in the summer... FOX have just unveiled their summer schedule which includes no new series and no scripted shows. Last summer, FOX ran a scripted block on Mondays last summer with Lie To Me and The Good Guys and also launched Masterchef.

The most puzzling thing about the schedule is that they've cut Hell's Kitchen to one hour and increased Masterchef to 2 hours despite the fact that Hell's Kitchen outperformed Masterchef considerably last summer.

Mondays:
8pm - Masterchef (premieres 6th June)
9pm - House (Repeats)

Tuesdays:
8pm - Masterchef
9pm - Hell's Kitchen (premieres 19th July)

Wednesdays:
8pm - So You Think You Can Dance?

Thursdays:
8pm - So You Think You Can Dance? (premieres 26th May)
9pm - Glee (Repeats)

Fridays:
8pm - Bones (R)
9pm - Lie To Me (R)

Saturdays:
8pm - Cops (R)
9pm - The Chicago Code (R)

Sundays:
Animation Repeats

SYTYCD launches the day after the final of American Idol during which it will be heavily promoted (part of 19 & FOX's deal).

By comparison, the likes of USA, TNT & ABC Family plan to run around 5 hours a week of original scripted content.

Had there not been a recession, I still think Michael Grade would have turned ITV around in the way he revived the fortunes of the BBC in the mid eighties. At least ITV ratings haven't endured the sort of free fall they were enduring in the mid noughties and there has been a modest revival in drama and sports programming on the main channel and an end to dead end reality shows on ITV1 that should have been on ITV2.
There is still a long way to go, and ITV is far from perfect, but at least Grade started the revival and employing Peter Fincham was a good idea.

The Daily Star is reporting that an all-nude version of Big Brother is set to come to our screens.

I wouldn't normally pay attention, but given who owns this newspaper and what we know about who Endemol are talking to regarding Big Brother, I'm a little concerned about this. Hopefully all is not as it seems and it's a load of nonsense!

In it's infancy didn't Channel 5 air a programme called keith Chegwin's Naked Jungle?

Oh dear me.

A bit more detail has come online now via an article on the Daily Star website:

A NUDE equivalent of Big Brother is to hit British TV screens.

Producers want to find eight housemates to live for 30 days with no clothes on.

The Nak’d Truth has already caused a storm in America, with hundreds of thousands desperate to take part.

Now bosses want to make a British version, to be filmed at a nudist resort in Florida. And they are heading to Blackpool next month to hold auditions.
Source: http://www.dailystar.co.uk/news/view...RO-GOES-NAKED/

Sounds absolutely hideous. I hope Channel 5 aren't involved with this.

to be fair there is nothing to tie this to Channel 5, and im unsure how much useable footage you would get, unless it was aired past midnight.

Oh dear. The Radio Times story about Midsomer Murders is going to be all over the place tomorrow.

Digital Spy has picked it up.

http://www.digitalspy.co.uk/tv/news/...suspended.html

'Midsomer Murders' creator suspended

The creator of Midsomer Murders has been suspended over comments made about the show's lack of ethnic minorities.

Brian True-May had described the the long-running detective series as "the last bastion of Englishness" in an interview with Radio Times, adding that if black or Asian faces were introduced "it wouldn't be the English village" with which viewers are familiar.

According to the i newspaper, William Hill are offering odds of 6-4 that the royal wedding will achieve a TV audience of 25m+. Charles & Diana's wedding had 21.7m in 1981 according to the paper, suggesting this year's coud be a record breaker. On a mission to state the bleeding obvious, BARB said "The marriage of the son of the heir to the throne in April is likely to create interest."

Well as one of the local new stories tonight was that there were only about five street parties put in for permission and having read in the paper over the weekend that there has been a huge demand for overseas holidays during that period, I'd go for less. No one that I know actually cares that they're getting married.
