There have been a couple of BBC comedies, that were 3x30.

The Great Outdoors and the first series of Getting On come to mind.

Yeah, BBC Four does that because of its small budget.

Certainly would have been more cost-effective to have launched Outcasts with a 3x60 series.

Speaking of Getting On, it's been axed by the BBC according to Alan Davies and Bill Bailey.

In some surprising news, ITV has recommissioned Comedy Rocks according to Jason Manford. Even though the series averaged only 2.65m, it'll be back "later this year". I'm guessing, however, it'll be in another slot - maybe late-night Saturday/Sunday.

They do this a hell of a lot with films. I'm sure Resident Evil will be rescheduled soon, keep an eye on the listings.

Also in the final exchange, High School Musical 3 has been moved to 5:50pm (originally scheduled for 4:40pm) on Sunday 3rd April. Should attract a decent sized young audience against ITV1's Midsomer Murders, Channel 4's Time Team and BBC One's Simple Suppers.

you are right I do know things change between the PI and the "final exchange" but I only notice it, when its something I want to watch.

Obviously I dont pay any attention to the time annouced for CSI NY on the PI, I normally just go via Digiguide, dont often check the "final exchange" TBH.

Also you might know what im talking about, but has there been an increase in "revision" documents since Desmond took over?

Resident Evil had made it onto Digiguide, before it was changed.

That's a shame, hopefully a broadcaster can get Joanna Scanlan, Vicki Pepperdine and Jo Brand to write and star in another project.

Quite the opposite. It would have been far less cost efftective to have a short run like that. The cost per episode would be quite small compared to the fixed cost of flying all the cast and crew to South Africa and buidling a set for just 3 episodes.

Was Getting On the hospital comedy with Jo Brand?

It would have been more cost effective cos they wouldn't have wasted money on 5 episodes of drama that nobody wanted to watch.

. Alan Davies mentioned on Twitter that Getting On had been axed when talking about sitcoms which the BBC has recently cancelled (his own sitcom Whites has also been axed).

Davies is still whingeing about Whites not getting a 2nd series:yawn:

http://twitter.com/alandavies1

He is one confused man saying BBC 2 doesn't want Getting on anymore., Its a BBC 4 show that gets a repeat on BBC 2.

Also seems to think the BBC only want working class comedies - Danny Cohen said he wanted more of them for BBC one not the entire corporation.

Getting On hasn't been axed yet. Their still waiting for news and i doubt it will be axed considering it has been picking up quite a few industry awards.

He must have been delighted when Mrs Brown was recommissioned

Some minor timing changes to the Saturday 2nd April schedules:

BBC1
17:15 - BBC News
17:30 - Total Wipeout
18:30 - So You Think You Can Dance?
19:30 - Lottery: Secret Fortune
20:25 - Casualty
21:15 - Live at the Apollo
22:00 - BBC News

ITV1
17:55 - ITV News
18:10 - You've Been Framed!
18:40 - Harry Hill's The Best of TV Burp
19:10 - Ant and Dec's Push the Button
20:25 - Live Celebrity Who Wants to be a Millionaire?
21:45 - FILM: Wanted
23:45 - ITV News

Millionaire's rating will be interesting, I don't anticipate 6.5m like at Christmas, but I think 5m/5.5m is not out of the question.

Quite what the BBC think they are gaining by shifting So You Think You Can Dance earlier and earlier to gain a head start on a repeat on ITV is puzzling. 6:30pm is a bit too early for it really with the clocks going back this weekend. It was originally down for 7pm before shifting to 6:40pm to get a head start on the TV Burp repeat, so ITV shifted and now BBC1 have shifted again. Looks like ITV haven't bothered to shift again although the upside for them is that they can now show the movie without it being interrupted by the news.

I agree about Millionaire too, 5-5.5m seems like a reasonable guess. I hope they've learnt from their mistake at Christmas and are willing to let it overrun if it needs to this time. Also I notice they've only announced one pairing so far (David Walliams and his mother), presumably to save the embarrassment of not having time for a couple like at Christmas.

I see David Walliams is on with his mum.

Another massive rating for EE which has been clearly benefiting from the 10min episode during last Friday's CIN. I did happen to see that CIN episode and IMO, I thought it was absolutely dreadful. Yes, I'm no EE fan, but I thought that mini episode was just terrible.

Silk has been a solid performer for the BBC with around 5m every week. Never watched it, but it's proving to be very steady, and I think the competition (which is basically nothing, ITV1 may as well just shown a blank screen on Tuesday's after Emmerdale cos those ratings are dreadful once again) has helped it so stay around the 5m mark.

As someone mentioned that's a strong rating for 90210. It was quite a very big episode last night so maybe that's why it saw a lift.

one of the reasons TEN moved Neighbours was to try and put a spark into early evening, and then on to primetime.

The 7pm Project was getting much better ratings last year, and TEN Primetime has failed to spark this year.

ok Neighbours is doing well on ELEVEN, but the news hour is getitng less than The Bold and The Beautiful, and I think it is hurting The 7pm Project and the primetime scheulde as well.

Even if both 6pm & T.E.N. were getting 400,000 regulary, im not sure they would be doing what TEN hoped they would.

What are ITV playing at with the TV Burp repeats? They seem to be airing more Best Of's than actual shows! And not good that SYTYCD has a head start too.

Millionaire should do OK, but I wouldn't be surprised if it was around 4m, because there was a lot of hype surrounding the Christmas special, because it was Christmas, first live edition, Corrie lead in etc.

That statement isn't true as I watched them.

If they were to be even more cost effective they should never have commisioned it in the first place.

I don't think there's a problem with running a TV Burp repeat that night. There won't be any new episodes until October so running a couple of repeats after this series won't be a problem. I have more of a problem with them running the repeats in December/January as I think besides an Xmas special the show needs a break then which it doesn't get.

They don't show that many repeats though. Since it returned in October this will be the sixth repeat, whilst they'll have shown 16 new editions. Whilst I'd rather the repeats air during the Summer instead of December/January, I don't think it's that drastic an amount really.

Actually The 7pm Project is up around 10% year-on-year and in primetime The Biggest Loser is up by around 13%. Here are the figures for Wednesday 24th March 2010 for comparison:

18:00 The Simpsons 0.52m (news hour now: 0.34m)
18:30 Neighbours 0.54m (news hour now: 0.34m)
19:00 The 7pm Project 0.68m (now: 0.75m)
19:30 The Biggest Loser 0.87m (now: 0.98m)

So although the 6pm news hour is a major problem, the good news for Ten is it doesn't appear to be impacting on the rest of primetime, which is up YoY.
