I don't think Ten ever intended the news to compete with Neighbours - they were surely looking to take viewers from A Current Affair and Today Tonight, but I think they've barely been affected.

3. Gregory's Girl - 10.8m (January 1985)

9. Dark Night of the Scarecrow - 8.3m (May 1985)
10. International Snooker - 8.3m (December 1984)

The Independent had the following list:

1: Woman of Substance (13.9m/4 January 1985)
2. Four Weddings and a Funeral (12.4m/15 November 1995)
3. Gregory's Girl (10.8m/8 January 1985)

5. Cutting Edge "Shops & Robbers" (9.8m/14 February 1994)
6. Big Fat Gypsy Weddings (9.7m/8 February 2011)
7. Friends (9.6m/28 May 2004)
8. Nuns on the Run (9.2m/18 April 1993)
9. Brookside (8.9m/31 January 1995)
10. Celebrity Big Brother (8.8m/19 January 2007)

Note: Figures above include C4+1 where necessary.

If you were to exclude C4+1, BFGW would rate at 8.8m which would put it at #8 or #10 in those respective charts.”

Not quite sure how Brookside doesn't feature in both there - the admission of "Shops & Robbers" can just about be justified if Radio Times consider Big Fat Gypsy Weddings to still be Cutting Edge (is that due back this year BTW?) and Celeb BB to be BB, and hence they only include one of each.

BTW, I see C4 are scheduling Campus, which debuted in their comedy pilot strand last year, on Tuesdays at 10pm. Initial thought is another C4 comedy killed off by scheduling, but notice the first episode is an hour-long, so wondering if it's been retooled into an extended format. It's from the makers of Green Wing, which IIRC was an hour-long show.

will be intersting to see how Negus does up against Today Tongith and A Current Affair, who are both in troubled water at the moment (seriously where are the Chaser to do a "What we have learnt from Current Affairs this week" skit when really need them)

Negus being very differnt in style and tone to ACA & TT.

I think Neighbours doing less than 200,000 daily would have made it look ilke less of a flop, but it would still be a flop, Neighbours being competive only draw attention to the flop.

BBC has axed My Family after more than 100 episodes. They still have about 8 or 10 new ones left to air though I think.

I think it's about time that the plug was pulled on My Family.

Wasn't expecting this as the show still attracts a decent number of viewers but the quality hasn't been great for a number of years it has to be said. Still it's had a good innings by sitcom standards.

Not surprised about My Family as both Robert Lindsay and Zoe Wanamaker wanted to move on. It has had a great run though.

Very good for for Japan Tsumani on Channel 4, both BBC Two and Channel 5 have documentaries on the Japan Tsunami, one is a Horizon special and the other is about the British Search and Rescue Team trying to help survivors.

Looks like the OTT antics of the vile Becky on Monday weren't enough of a draw to keep Corrie on top last night.

Had to laugh at the comments in the paper of bringing it to an end before it got tired! Fair play though it's good to have a sitcom in recent years that hasn't called it a day after two six-part series - although like many (and as in the US) it probably should have gone a couple of years before it did. only question now is how many years until the inevitable Christmas Day special.

Also not sure if it's been confirmed here (I've only seen news on Sky and ITV's plans) but Huw Edwards leading the BBC commentary at least of the Royal Wedding according to announcements of BBC World in Australia (he'll probably talk through the ceremony as he does with the Olympics!) Wondering though which US network has commissioned "Royally Mad", in which Cat Deeley guides Americans through royal themed challenges in London to prove their devotion to the Royal family.

Decent for Monroe that it was steady last night, although the competition was easier than last week. If it can continue rating in the high 4's for the remaining episodes and timeshifts well, I can see it coming back for another series. The Japan Tsunami documentary on C4 did really well compared to how they usually perform in that slot. DIY SOS did well against the ITV soaps considering it was a repeat airing and seemed to dent Emmerdale and Corrie which were lower than normal for a non-Europa League Thursday night.

Is that a slight increase for 10 o clock live?
Anyhow I'd think the audience for Russel Howard would be pretty much the same as 10 Live and most will watch it on Iplayer today instead.

Can't help but think BBC were hoping for higher with My Big Fat Fake Wedding, especially given the title. ITV soaps were down, presumably the reason why Monroe couldn't break 5m.

Poor rating for Monroe given the weak BBC1 competition. Pretty dull ratings for a dull BBC1 8/9pm pairing. Thursdays should be fun, not DIY SOS and Panorama!

They might as well put This Week out at 9pm - that's far too entertaining (yet still informative) a show to languish in its late 11.40pm slot. I wonder if they have ever considered a prime time (or at least a better) slot for it?

After all, Countryfile was a Sunday morning slot-filler for years until it transformed into one of our biggest shows in primetime.

Odd that EmFm got less viewers at 8pm (with no real competition) than at 7pm. Not great for Corrie to be sub-8m against DIY SOS repeats either.

Embarrassing for Channel 4 that BBC Three's Russell Howard's Good News beat 10 O'Clock Live, despite the half an hour head start it had over its BBC rival.

The Bert Trautmann Story did well. I've heard it promoted a lot this week on national radio. Not sure if UKTV were expecting more, but a good figure nonetheless.

Excellent rating for Eastenders, over 1m ahead of Corrie for the night.
