It reports DOI as 7.45-10pm. Didn't it start at 7.40pm?

BBC1 held up ok, although it's funny how Antiques Roadshow held up better against TXF than against DOI. I guess there is more cross-over between AR and ice dancing than there is with a karaoke contest.

Countryfile held up nicely for its first "daylight" episode for several months.

Glad to see WTD comfortably above 5m for a difficult episode. I suspect it will be further down next week against Lewis, even if that only gets 6-7m, due to the similar appeal.

great to see your aspirations for a series that used to pull in 9m every week are so high

so ITV1s cheap & dirty football rights ( acquired for tuppence happeny) beat the BBCs big £40M rights acquisition Bernie are you taking notes

Although the Dancing On Ice final held up level with last year at 8.8m, I can't help but think that seems a bit poor for a show of this caliber. I can only assume the 9pm padding and long running time prevents a high average. Although we have seen from recent weeks that separate results shows are not helpful because they seem to rate lower than the performance show.

The 6am screening of the Formula 1 did very well to bag a 51% share and could be a contender for top 10 shares of the year if there was one! I expect the afternoon ITV1 football and Formula 1 rpt knocked each other down a bit though, as the ratings for them both seem a bit lackluster.

The trail at the end of DoI seen by ~9m did wonders then?

I suspect most DoI viewers went to bed at this point, according to previous figures 10pm is already too late for some of its viewers, but I guess they pushed the boat out last night with it being the final.

Considering DOI was launched as ITV's answer to SCD - something they were proud to admit at the time - its ratings do seem unspectacular. Good, but underpar when compared with the big hitters of SCD/XF/BGT.

And since when was Benidorm classed as a drama? I don't think it even fits into the category of comedy-drama and I'm sure ITV themselves see the show as a comedy/sitcom. Are we calling it a drama now as an excuse for the lack of humour in it these days?

I thought the rerun had a shot at beating the live broadcast with the clocks going forward last night. Close, but not quite. Good solid figures for the F1 though, and very good in Australia too.

Yes DOI has nowhere near the hype that surrounds XF and SCD and Im assuming that the first show back in January will bag the highest ratings, which if it does rather says it all. Those figures are still gold but for me, DOI gets less of an event each year its on.

It is categorised as a sitcom on DigiGuide, which receives listings information direct from ITV.

The reason GMTV started poorly was because of The Big Breakfast, which in 1993 was beating both the BBC and ITV. The big problem for GMTV in the early days is that they'd aimed it at families with children but all of those had gone off to The Big Breakfast when that started in September 1992, so come January a lot of the expected audience simply wasn't there.

For most of the nineties the Beeb was an irrelevance, apart from the Gulf War, the ratings never went up. The Big Breakfast thrashed GMTV to such an extent that it almost drew level with the Beeb, whereas TVam had been miles in front. It's no wonder TVam was so profitable, because before 1992, where else would you go? Boring Breakfast News or even more boring Channel Four Daily?

Of course, GMTV succeeded in the end as The Big Breakfast completely ran out of steam.

"9m every week" my arse!

Of course, the show has been around for years. You could say the same of Corrie which used to pull in 17-20m two/three nights a week, Casualty which used to pull in 15-17m every week but now gets 5-7m, The Bill which used to pull in 14-16m twice a week but got axed after sinking sub-3m, Millionaire which used to pull 19m every night of the week but was recently getting thrashed 2 to 1 by Holby City, James Bond premieres which used to get 22m but now only just outrate the BBC Saturday news....

And if you think a figure of 2.05m outrates a 4.15m audience, then it's no wonder ITV got itself into such a financial mess with the likes of you around...

Bloody hell! (Mrs B would say something worse)

Sensational timeshift for episode 4 considering the low base. If a 7m overnight shifted 0.85m we'd consider it pretty good. For a 3m overnight, that's spectacular.

Presumably these figures won't include the regional variations either. I know BBC1 NI shows it after 10.35, not sure about Wales and Scotland?

Come on Beeb - if it's now at 4m in a post-10.35 or later slot, surely you need to air s2 at 10pm Saturdays before MOTD?

too right. but I want to see the actual voting numbers in millions. I have a feeling they might be well down this year. in fact, me saying in millions is perhaps a little optimistic...

if the Scots were willing to play at 6am they would have beat the F1 then too!

Nice to see your dislike of aggregation only applies to +1 channels

Yeah, I can see that happening too but WTD will make up for it in the officials. It got a 7m official figure for its first story.

As well as the 6 million people that sit and watch it every week.

Very good for Essex, I'll have to catch up as I missed it.

Well, it lost about 15k week-on-week despite a massive plug after the DoI final, so I wouldn't say it did as well as last week.

It doesn't look, based on these early couple of results, to pose much of a threat to the biggest multichannel heavyweights of the moment like Glee and Junior Doctors that have started strong and grown their audience off the back of much less hype.

Sky News was more focussed on Libya on Saturday.

6.05 The Bones That Weren't 2/2/11 - 698,000
6.06 The Shallow in the Deep 9/2/11 - 787,000
6.07 The Babe in the Bar 16/2/11 - 843,000
