I do think the Football rating and BBC1's rating is why the Champions League should have stayed on Tuesdays on ITV. Because moving it to Wednesday ruined the Tuesday line-up, moved Corrie to Thursdays and killed The Bill.

Yet, over a year on, they still have no Freeview HD homes on their panel.
For the main FTA channels, I'm sure BARB is fine, but for multichannels, it's 'pinch of salt' time. |

BBC1 held up really well against the football, with Holby City rating exactly the same as last week (assuming the rating in the TV roundup is correct) and Silk down very little. If an England football match can't dent BBC1 on Tuesdays, what else can (apart from BGT/IAC)? That 7.30-9pm block on Tuesdays for BBC1 is very strong and Holby's audience seems to be very loyal. .
Perhaps both propositions are true? |

CSI held up extremely well against the football - normally it takes a hit in such circumstances but last night it was stable. Dita Von Teese's cameo probably helped.
![]() And next week sees the return of Grissom (Channel 5 are promoting this) so it should stay above 2m. |

Online polls on DS are the opinions of those who choose to vote.
BARB panels are "selected by them" apparently. I've never had anyone from BARB knock on my door in the last 24 years of my life. I don't believe the ratings because the only person I know who likes EastEnders is my boyfriend. And when Crossroads was up against Neighbours back in 2001/2002, everyone I knew in School would come in and talk about Crossroads, Hollyoaks and Family Affairs. No one liked the other soaps round here. |

So, lets get this straight, your argument against BARB being representative is to use you and your friends as a sample example? Genius!

And The Bill being past its sell-by date killed The Bill. |

Yes, there ARE Freeview HD homes on the panel (do you use BARB data?) and this can be created through use of demographic fields within the panel viewing file. However, they are not reporting HD viewing through the digitial terrestrial platform, it's being re-badged to the SD parent for some reason I think, or something technical...however, they do have the homes on the panel.
Quote:
beware overnights: bbc hd has more consolidation than any channel except sky atlantic. and no freeview hd in panel.
Do you know what percentage of homes on the panel have HD? Danielle Nagler also Tweeted this:-Quote:
We make it 25 to 27% homes have HD - over 1m Freesat and 500k to 1m freeview. BARB lags I believe by a lot.
Something is wrong when we're still only getting only 8-10,000 in the overnights for BBC HD, when the SD versions are getting a hundred times more.

I think it's probably more likely that what Danielle was trying to say has been misinterpreted, rather than her not knowing what she's talking about. That's why I don't use Twitter.

For example yesterday I got a letter asking me to take part in the Department for Transports, National Travel Survey, something I didnt know exisited till yesterday. I also know someone with a BARB box. Quote:
And Vernon Kay has been replaced by Keith Lemon as host despite having filmed 2 episodes already. Intriguing. Personally I think with the type of show it is going for a comedy angle is a better idea than using a generic host.
God next we will find out there is a "Sing If You Can: Extra" show. |

just when we thought the show couldnt get any worse, its a stinker of a format, and presented by two ITV 2 type celebrities.
God next we will find out there is a "Sing If You Can: Extra" show. Looking forward to The Walking Dead - didn't catch it on FX first time but I've heard good things. |

How many in the your friend's household? If you can get them all in front of the telly, the figures should rocket!! |

bit of an odd slot. Although it takes it out of the line of fire for the big channels as BBC1 & ITV1 are effectively done by 10pm on Sunday nights
Its competition in the first week includes the news, golf, a repeat of Atonement and (ironically) a Steven Seagal film on Channel 4. Quite weak competition.

Could you pop round next Monday and watch Twenty Twelve on BBC HD. It will be interesting to see if that bumps up the overnights from 8,000.

Not crazy about Waking the Dead timeslot, it's one programme I've been looking forward to checking out, but I think regardless it will timeshift well.
Can't see myself settling into a new show at 10pm on a Sunday night, but I'm probably the minority.

I think it's chances of doing well have improved now. They're still miniscule, but the only shot this thing ever had was that it might be funny and they seem to be going down that road.
I showed the YouTube video of the advert for it (the one for the format, not the ITV show) to someone yesterday, she stopped watching after 40 seconds, saying how awful it was. |

Quite weak competition.
