I do think the Football rating and BBC1's rating is why the Champions League should have stayed on Tuesdays on ITV. Because moving it to Wednesday ruined the Tuesday line-up, moved Corrie to Thursdays and killed The Bill.

Yes, there ARE Freeview HD homes on the panel (do you use BARB data?) and this can be created through use of demographic fields within the panel viewing file. However, they are not reporting HD viewing through the digitial terrestrial platform, it's being re-badged to the SD parent for some reason I think, or something technical...however, they do have the homes on the panel.

It's a puzzler. It kind of suggests Holby and Silk are watched almost exclusively by people who don't like football, whilst the footie watchers last night are "new to Tuesdays" viewers.

Perhaps both propositions are true?

CSI held up extremely well against the football - normally it takes a hit in such circumstances but last night it was stable. Dita Von Teese's cameo probably helped.

And next week sees the return of Grissom (Channel 5 are promoting this) so it should stay above 2m.

Crap shows on Tuesdays ruined Tuesdays. Show something people want to watch and the viewers will turn up - hence 11m for Coro in tram crash week, BGT, IAC etc etc.

And The Bill being past its sell-by date killed The Bill.

I think ITV probably would've liked to continue having the Tuesday Champions League matches, but they were outbid for the Tuesday rights by Sky. IIRC the previous time they were also outbid for the Tuesday rights but negotiated a deal with Sky, which I read wasn't possible this time around. So they must've had no other option but to go for the Wednesday matches. That's meant they had to move the 7.30pm Corrie episode in order to give it a fixed slot, and only Tuesdays or Thursdays were really available and they probably went for Thursdays because it's got easier competition than Holby City on Tuesdays. As for The Bill, it had a couple of 9pm episodes the previous year which had got ~5m and ITV must've been expecting it to rate like that when they decided to give it the Thursday 9pm slot. Of course, it didn't turn out that way but I seem to recall at the time when this new soap block was announced, people were saying it sounded like a good plan.

As I've said in previous posts Danielle Nagler is incorrect. And it's hardly a shock story either "Head of broadcast channel moans that their viewing is too low". Far be it for me to question her judgement but the data is there and you can definitively find DTT HD homes in the panel..... . I'm not sure what percentage have it as there are some caveats to the demographics, i.e. you can see DTT HD sets but you can't see all of them, for instance, if the set also has Virgin or Sky on it, you cannot differentiate between the HD set top box between DTT, Cable or Sky. I would assume as DTT HD becomes bigger then it will become a robust sample, and large enough to completely seperate with it's own demographic rather than using a combination of two (HD Set Top Box = Yes, DTT= Yes, all other platforms =No) etc. But they are in there. Danielle needs to talk to her research department me thinks....

I think it's probably more likely that what Danielle was trying to say has been misinterpreted, rather than her not knowing what she's talking about. That's why I don't use Twitter.

Could you pop round next Monday and watch Twenty Twelve on BBC HD. It will be interesting to see if that bumps up the overnights from 8,000.

That is true. I expected a 10pm timeslot but I thought they would go for Mondays instead. Thinking about it Sundays probably does make more sense.

Its competition in the first week includes the news, golf, a repeat of Atonement and (ironically) a Steven Seagal film on Channel 4. Quite weak competition.

What with two Katies on Tuesdays, we've now got Waking the Dead followed immediately by The Walking Dead on Sundays!!

Hope it does well for Five. It's an excellent acquisition. Bit late for the extra long pilot on a Sunday though.

Moving on, it is quite a big house hold, its her & 3 boys. She has a bf who has a son, who have moved in. So thats 6 people.

Not crazy about Waking the Dead timeslot, it's one programme I've been looking forward to checking out, but I think regardless it will timeshift well.
Can't see myself settling into a new show at 10pm on a Sunday night, but I'm probably the minority.

you mght have a point, the Keith Lemon character may suit the show better than Kay, but its still an awful show, and its a big move from ITV 2 to ITV 1, and with a less than polished co-presenter.

I showed the YouTube video of the advert for it (the one for the format, not the ITV show) to someone yesterday, she stopped watching after 40 seconds, saying how awful it was.
