I do wonder whether a return to Ten for Neighbours would just carry on getting 400k or increasealot more? Essentially atm the network is getting 800k spread over two channels, returning Neighbours may get Ten 500k but is there anything to go on 11 which could prove as popular?

Strong for the football, which seemed to slightly dent BBC1's schedule, although it still held up well. IIRC the last Waterloo Road finale ended up against Emmerdale & Corrie and finished on a series low too.

Awful for Jamie and Ch4 will have to have a re think before starting on a new project. NCIS held up very well and it obviously has a different audience to the football, because it's only when it's up against Midsomer that it's dented.

Does it ever top a million?

Also how is The Vanessa Show doing?

A few more details about Cowell's new game show for ITV:
Quote:
“Simon Cowell and ITV are creating an epic gameshow in which thousands of contestants compete to win a million pounds - on the spin of a roulette wheel.

Broadcast can reveal that the broadcaster is close to finalising a commission that will see Cowell’s television business Syco TV team up with ITV Studios to make Red And Black.

The two companies are investigating methods for how several thousand initial contestants are identified, which may include a competition element.

Those who are successful will be granted access to an arena where they will all get the opportunity to bet on a number of showpiece events, which will produce one of two different outcomes.

Details of the events remain sketchy, but it is known that over the course of a week the contestants will be whittled down to just one, who will place a bet on red or black to win £1m on the spin of a roulette wheel.

The show, likely to be hosted by Ant and Dec, has been earmarked to be stripped over a week in September. Sources familiar with the situation said Wembley Arena is being explored as a possible venue. “This will be big, noisy and expensive,” said one industry insider.

Sounds like an ITV version of million pound drop.
And crucially has the same possible outcome that the winner will go home with nothing.

The Crimson Petal and the White did very well considering it was against football, should remain stable against weaker football competition next week. NCIS increased from last week which is good, Masterchef was slightly dented from the football and Jamie's Dream School has turned out to be a bit of a flop.

Keeley Hawes confirmed on This Morning today that filming for the next series of Upstairs Downstairs will take place from October to March. So it looks like the earliest possible time of the year it can be shown on TV will be Spring 2012.

Neighbours on TEN is IMO dead, and it would leave ELEVEN competing against TEN for tis own demographic, so I dont see it being helpful to TEN.

Yeah Crimson did well despite getting a dreadful review from the Newsnight team on Friday, mind they were a terrible panel and gave out about everything, should have been called grumpy old........
BBC2 have been having a great week, since Sunday.

I was intrigued by your post about Jamie and decided to go see how his shows have developed, in terms of ratings. I took six of his prime time shows and developed a little experiment with them.

Jamie’s Kitchen
Return to Jamie’s Kitchen
Jamie’s School Dinners
Jamie's Return to School Dinners
Jamie’s Ministry of Food
Jamie’s Dream School
I found their ratings and then produced some notes and a graph.

Graph - The Rise and Fall of Jamie Oliver

Jamie’s Kitchen
This was Jamie's breakthrough into prime time. The first episode of this series was the most watched program on channel 4 that week. While it lost viewers, the second episode of the series was also the most watched program on CH4 that week. It would increase in viewers in the third week but lost its place in the “most watched of the week” to Celebrity Big Brother and came second. The show would miss a week and then come back for two more weeks. When it came back the show would regain it’s “most watched of the week” status for both weeks and the whole series ended on a ratings high of 6.25

A follow up show Return to Jamie’s Kitchen would air the next year for two weeks. The show would be “most watched of the week” for both weeks but shared this title with Grand Designs in the second week. The ratings would get nowhere near what the first season had got and failed to even reach the lowest rating of season 1, 4.64.

Jamie’s School Dinners
This is probably the series which made Jamie famous but the opener gained fewer viewers than the series opener of Jamie’s Kitchen however it was still the most watched show on CH4 that week. The show would be the most watched show of the week for CH4 for all the weeks it was shown and ended on a series high 5.32.

Jamie's Return to School Dinners
In September of the next year, a follow up would be broadcast. It would be the most watched episode of the week for CH4 and gained 3.66 viewers.

Jamie’s Ministry of Food
In 2008 Jamie’s Ministry of Food broadcast and it would open with 3.24m as well as sealing “most watched of the week” title. It would be dented the next week by Peter Kay’s mock talent show and would only come third in the “most watched on four” list. It would also miss out on the top spot the week after when River Cottage bet it with 3.25 to 2.72. The lowest score any of Jamie’s primetime shows would get. The next week Jamie would be relegated to third place by Gordon Ramsay and River Cottage after scoring a meagre 2.51m

Jamie’s Dream School
It could be that the abysmal rating of "Ministry of Food" is why they branched out into something which had just about nothing to do with food. As this series aired so recently, it’s not possible to look at “most watched” status for it however it does look very bleak for Jamie. It opened with the weakest rating throughout this whole experiment -2.1- and kept falling save week 4 when it reached 1.48m however the finale crashed to a halt with 1.06m

Overview
When Jamie first came into primetime with Jamie’s Kitchen, he was a major success and while he would become more famous with his school dinner series it would never reach the ratings of his first hit. As the years have went on Jamie’s primetime shows have lost more and more followers. Perhaps Jamie will try to go back to cooking in a bid to bring back viewers or maybe he’ll decide enough is enough. Whatever he does I think this little experiment shows that he, and CH4, have a lot to think about.

Good news Doctor Who fans (including myself ), looking at BBC Press Office it appears the following could be the schedule for Easter Saturday:

17:30 - NEW: Don't Scare the Hare
18:30 - So You Think You Can Dance
19:30 - NEW: Doctor Who
20:15 - Lottery: Secret Fortune
21:05 - Casualty

22:15 - Match of the Day

Clearly someone seen Don't Scare the Hare and didn't like it!
Knowing BBC though, it probably will end up being...

21:20 - Casualty

“So I hear that NBC's heavily hyped upcoming warble show The Voice from John de Mol, Mark Burnett, and Warner Horizon Television is costing a whopping $1.4 million per episode. Given that this is a U.S. adaptation of The Voice of Holland, and that the set for the April 26th premiere looks like a cheap Las Vegas lounge with a coupla chairs, a microphone, and hardly any production values, and that judges on these talent shows aren't paid that extravagantly, then where the hell is the money going?”

http://www.deadline.com/2011/04/nbcs...g/#more-120390

Meanwhile, it turns out that NBC's reality boss Paul Telegdy does have a better handle on ego managment than his predecessors. Prior to announcing The Voice, he made a little phone call to Simon Cowell (who Exec Produces America's Got Talent for the network) to smooth things over. Cowell's response was "do what you want", but did note that Telegdy is under a little pressure. But I really don't think this is the way to solve his problem.. Idol is doing well and it's already well advanced. Launching a new show one month before the end may be problematic.

Perhaps the pressure on Telegdy is reflected in The Hollywood Reporter's 4th annual reality power list where Telegdy placed 9th - with rivals at FOX (Mike Darnell #2), CBS (Jennifer Bresnan, #3) and ABC (Vicki Dummer & John Saade, #4) all higher.

6 Brits made the top 20. Simon Cowell was #6. Mark Burnett, the LA based Brit behind The Apprentice, Survivor and a slew of flop cable offerings was #11. Stephen Lambert was #13 thanks to Undercover Boss, marking a remarkable recovery from Queen-Gate. Conrad Green, a former Big Brother boss, now runs Dancing With The Stars and was #18. Gordon Ramsay was #20.

Broadcast is reporting that the BBC is thinking of moving all remaining Bristol production (apart from local news) to Cardiff and has asked Indies to advance the argument against. Unclear where this would leave the Natural History Unit.
