If she had kept her name as Stefani, she'd no doubt () have been accused of copying Gwen. Especially on top of the nerve of having blonde hair haha.

I seen these images on another forum and they made me giggle:

Lady Gaga copies the letter L

Lady Gaga copies Destiny's Child

Silly images, I know, but there's some truth in them in that whatever she does someone will always say she is copying another person.

No Gwen would have been accused of copying her.

That made me laugh well the first one anyway - both those links are the same

No doubt were great fun. Gwens Solo stuff was rather good.

The awfull bit was the horrible phase where no doubt abandoned their orignal sound and tried to do the sort of stuff gwen did as a solo artist. Really didn't do it for me.

As for the similarities, they bascially look a bit like each other, thats not copying they just lool a bit similar.

Lady Gaga is quite clearly a singer that is un ashamedly influenced by other singers. Madona is obviously mentioned a lot and I think Gwen Stephani has been quite open in her admiration for Madona as has Gaga, which i'm sure partly explain the similarities in styling.

Madona, was equally a product of her influences, I would cite Debbie Harry, Munroe, and Bowie, and they were in turn products of their influnces. For example, I don't think Bowie the artist could have existed without Stephen Tennant.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Stephen_Tennant

I that his self created image was in tennants case his art work. That takes us back to Gaga who is very much playing with the idea of "being the canvas" as did Bowie, Madge and so on.

We are all a product of our influnces and Lady Gaga is no different.

RE the whole Madonna thing:

With Gwen and Gaga, I always felt that Gaga looked more like Madonna than she sounded (in her songs). Whereas with Gwen, I thought her music sounded like Madonna's but didn't neccesserily look like her.

Having said that, Gwen's 'love angel music baby' album is brilliant but in some of the tracks she sounds so much like Madonna-even in the spoken parts. One song (forgotton the title) sounds just like Madonna's 'holiday'. Although probably intended. I do like Gwen though and have just got into her music, I only just ordered her solo albums

Hope she returns to the music scene soon.

First bit in bold - I'm trying to work out which song you mean now.

Second bit in bold - a new No Doubt album is due this year apparently.

Ahh right. I like that one.

I saw her live on the Sweet Escape tour for a friend's birthday. I was pleasantly surprised at how good she is live (I'd seen some live tv performances beforehand and didn't think much of her vocals)

Gaga did have quite a Gwen Stefani musical phase, I think.

Dirty Ice Cream, Disco Heaven, Filthy Pop, Retro Physical etc. are very 'Gwen' to me.

It's that kind of glam rock with quirky, over-pronouncing vocals, that remind me of her.

When started doing stuff like this....

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QtTj4cramPM

Instead of this.....

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=J7xcc...feature=relmfu

Its basically a different band

No doubt were great, amazing ska-punk punk band, when the rest of the world were still listening to grunge.

Her solo stuff was also really really good pop music. The bit in the middle, where no doubt started trying to do stuff like "hella good" was just .... not very good.

I love it! Another song which reminds me of Madonna through and through is 'Harajuku girls' (even the spoken bits and the intro I swear is 'papa dont preach'.). Love it though.

I'm slowly becoming quite a big Gwen fan, so I hope the no doubt return is real soon.

Yeah I agree, I love songs like that though. it's almost so cliche and OTT that you can feel the artist hating what they're singing about (i.e. the Gaga hate for money etc). Basically laughing at the situation.

One thing besides the Madonna obsession they all have in common, is that they're all Italian. I thought I read somewhere that Gwen Stefani is related to Madonna?

as an album it is one of my all time faves from the last decade! No Doubts Rock STeady album also! because it was different to the Ska style they were popular for and i loved it as a concept!

I view her second album The Sweet Escape highly too! got a bit of bad rep! but it is really good

I agree with the comparisons however! they are each heavily influenced by Madonna! who isnt? but also remain their own too! and as Italian women they are very amazonian and tough too!

Madonna is just beautiful and gwen is so stunnin too!

also as a trio i think they each have been underrated vocally! which is a bit of a snag but i dont mind! i love M and gwen as vocalists and gaga while i am still mixed on her i cannot deny her talent too!

want gwen back out there though! i saw she will be on the cover of Elle magazine this month....beautiful! i miss gwen too! and Madonna!
