Oh for goodness sake, I wish I hadn't asked the flipping question now!
Can anyone, WHO ACTUALLY OWNS THE NEXUS S, give proper feedback about battery life? Can you reasonably get at least a day's use out of the phone without needing to tweak, underclock and generally faff about? |

They should just get it over and down with and rename "The Gadget Show" to "Apple Bum Loving".
TBH the whole show is sickening from their reviews to the fun way it's filmed. Does us all a favour and die a quick! A small nuclear device on set might help. I really don't think anything can rival it. I had a C905 at the time of the 3GS now IPhone 4. If there was something better I'd look at it but theres no genuine alternative just a few phones that have a bonus of s memory card or flash support. |

Apple one was better but now Google's marketplace for android has caught up, devs now want to concentrate on it more as it pays better than apple, so i can see this slipping up from apple soon enough. Camera, well i can say the nokia N8 wallops the iphone as does my phone, Build wise i prefer my desire hd to my old iphone 4 feels more sturdier. The only thing i can see the iphone has better is its screen. Other than that it falls over now. Iphone 5 will take over as top dog when it comes out then will fall from it again. That cycle will continue over and over. |

The Nokia N8 is a 12MP and way better than most phone cameras but it's probably not the best smart phone. I had the SE Satio and can honestly say you don't need 12MP in a phone. 5-8MP is good enough for anybody or any digital camera.

The Google Marketplace isn't yet as big as the App Store and isn't as profitable for developers. When you say it pays better, be only evidence I've seen for that was from one developer, whose app made all its money from in-app purchases anyway.

Gadget show should be renamed Ripoff Show.
![]() I can never forget when they reviewed waterproof coats, and they rated a coat the best that cost about £600 better than one that cost about £50 just because the cheap jacket let in one microscopic drop of water. |

I've got one and it is, but the way that the gadget show go about it and the way they talk about Apple products is ridiculous. It's like it's written by Vallhund and Soundburst's love child.

Of course things can rival it seeing as its not the top dog now!

As for developers, due to the fragmentation on Android it's very hard for them to make money. One developer is making more on Android than Apple, 65,000 are not.

I think maybe it's in reference to the amount of money Google take in the form of commission per sale compared to Apple.

I imagine that's a factor. But it seems - and this is only in the experience of me and my friends - that iPhone owners are, for some reason, more willing to pay for apps. I've got the WhatsApp messenger, for example, and so has one of my friends who has the HTC Desire. She got it free, I paid 59p for it. Great for her, bad for me, but the developer made money from the App Store rather than the Marketplace.

But does the free version come with ads? I'm sure I read the other day some figures the developers of Angry Birds released and they were making more money from the Android version which is free compared to the iPhone version due to the ads in the app.

The funny thing is, i just watched The Gadget Show there and by god that review was a load of utter shite.
First off the Nexus S won far more of the challenges than the iphone did. Next bit was the iphone user opted to use Navfree which is an offline navigation and took them down a one way street, so doesnt require 3G like Google Navigation does to download the maps so its little wonder the Nexus S battery croaked. Im willing to bet if they used offline maps on both devices that wouldnt have happened, or if they both used online maps both the Nexus S and iphone 4 would have given up, so pretty unfair to be honest. The camera part, well thats not down to the Nexus S which is fully capable of 720p video recording, they used Androids stock recorder which for some reason doesnt do 720p recording ![]() The scores i saw at the end of it were:- Nexus S: 3 - iPhone: 1 so exactly how the iphone got crowned the king of smartphones is staggering. |

Apple iPhone 4 clock bug strikes again - Telegraph how many os updates since this was first reported last year and today it still ain't fixed Quote:
Thats like saying my ford Ka can get more mpg than a BMW M3. Therefore my ford Ka is better.
![]() BTW, apple have incorporate multi-tasking into ios...just very badly. Quote:
Funny that as my desirehd battery lasts longer my old iphone 4 doing the same things. Oh and the best thing about it is if it does run out i can always slap another battery in if need be. Can i do this with the iphone? No.
Apple do things right indeed lmao ![]() |

That's an interesting point. Of course, with that there are issues of consumer satisfaction. There were a few people saying on another thread recently that they'd happily pay for Angry Birds on Android if it meant seeing it ad-free.
Most Android apps are like that I've seen. A free version which is supported by ads and a paid for version which is ad free and maybe has one or two extras.Quote:
A typical response. Who carries extra batteries around with them all of the time? Same with memory cards. Just another thing to worry about or forget and leave at home.

A total PITA IMHO.
![]() The other majority manage just fine without any complaints at all. Aren't you the one who thinks its easier to, find a usb cable, unravel it, plug it into the camera then into the pc/mac easier than removing the memory card and putting it directly into a pc/mac or am i thinking of someone else? |

My point here is, if i was to take my old iphone out, be without a socket for a few days, well im screwed aren't i? Whereas with my desirehd i can carry a tiny spare battery and not have the issues you will. Now i know its not often you will be without a supply of some kind but its happened to me on numerous occasions and is 1 of a few reasons why i got rid of my iphone 4 |

Btw that is with absolutely no tweaking, underclocking or anything ... other than not using 'live' wallpapers which can be a battery killer. |
