I love the majority on this list , Also, some of these artists such as MGMT and Passion Pit don't have a lot of chart success but they make quality music, so I think Matt is in safe hands.

I understand where your coming from mattadore I think they are more than aware that he is a great muscian and songwriter the pre XF stuff is proof of that. However the Highbarn Yts are providing those who needed to reassure themselves of his talent.

I totally agree about the Highbarn stuff - its fantastic but it's just a better quality recording of the stuff they did in the 5 Bells (with a new guitar)

His real value is in his original music - the reason I'm so excited about Columbia (apart from the obvious) is because I don't see them bothering with someone they didn't think was the complete package and (other than Matt saying they were letting him write the songs) this is the first acknowledgement that Syco sees him as more than just another XF winner or at least as genuinely different to what has come before.

Ali said on twitter he has known all week so presumably it is recently finalised but I imagine it has been in the wings for some time. The timing of the announcement is a bit strange being right in the middle of the tour - but I'm so pleased I don't care really.
