hi all.
i have just bought an AV receiver, onkyo TX-SR608
at present i can't afford to buy a set of speakers for it.
i do have however, have an all-in-one home cinema that consists of DVD player and 5.1 speakers.
i want to use the speakers provided with that kit as the cabling for them runs beneath my laminate flooring but i have no idea if i can plug the subwoofer into my new receiver.
my original sub just has speaker wire that plugged into the home cinema, where would i plug this into my new av receiver?
is it possible?

Using those satellite speakers that came with an all in one cinema and your new AV Receiver is a bad idea in any case.

In addition, the amp will require an active subwoofer (ie, one that connects to the mains power and has RCA jacks) instead of a passive one that connects using speaker wire and draws power from the amplifier.

You need to make sure the old speakers have the correct impedence rating for the Onkyo. Don't just connect any old speaker willy-nilly.
