help connecting subwoofer
hi all.
i have just bought an AV receiver, onkyo TX-SR608 at present i can't afford to buy a set of speakers for it. i do have however, have an all-in-one home cinema that consists of DVD player and 5.1 speakers. i want to use the speakers provided with that kit as the cabling for them runs beneath my laminate flooring but i have no idea if i can plug the subwoofer into my new receiver. my original sub just has speaker wire that plugged into the home cinema, where would i plug this into my new av receiver? is it possible? |

Using those satellite speakers that came with an all in one cinema and your new AV Receiver is a bad idea in any case.
In addition, the amp will require an active subwoofer (ie, one that connects to the mains power and has RCA jacks) instead of a passive one that connects using speaker wire and draws power from the amplifier. |

You need to make sure the old speakers have the correct impedence rating for the Onkyo. Don't just connect any old speaker willy-nilly.
