Humax PVR-9200T keeps switching to BBC 1

Got a weird problem with our Humax PVR-9200T.

If we switch channels then after anywhere between 10 seconds and 30 seconds or so it just switches back to BBC 1 (Channel 1)!

It's not the remotes. I put all the remotes in another room and it still happens.

Anyone got any suggestions?

It's on the latest software and I've reset the Humax back to default settings and re-scanned the box to re-set up all the channels.

Everything else seems OK.

This problem started today on our 9200T as well. Nothing seems to stop it though I have noticed that there is a flashing LOADING in the top right hand corner of the screen as if there is a teletext problem.
For reference we are on the Bedmond Relay from Crystal Palace in case it is a transmission issue. However since it started today for three different 9200T users it is looking more like the machine which is at the root of this.
For now we have switched back to analogue- not everything we want to watch is on BBC-1! I have just tried switching the Humax to BBC 4 and in 15 minutes it has not self-switched to BBC-1.

My Humax 9200T from today has also started changing channels from BBC2 back to BBC1, also it starts up text by itself, It only appears to be happening on the BBC channels. Yes I put all my remotes in another room and it still did it. I also reset back to defaults with little change.

If I paused the channel for a second so that it wasn't live it seemed better, and it doesn't happen when playing back a recorded program.

It feels like somthing is being transmitted by the BBC that is causing the problem.

Anybody got any ideas?

I also have a 9200T.

Looks like it is a problem with the little message that tells you to retune at the end of the month. I got that message once and pressed yellow to clear it. Thereafter I just get "loading" and the channel switch issue like you.

I managed to record a program from BBC2 and watch it back.

Humax bug, or the BBC sending something odd?

Same problem here, started around mid-day today whilst channel hopping between BBC and Sky news. Setup is; 9200T, v23 software, Sudbury TX, sig 42%, qual 100%, no 8XX channels. There seem to be two separate visible effects. They are both intermittent and mutually excusive

Whilst on a BBC channel, every so often (around every 2 to 10 minutes) the text screen pops up as if I had pressed the 'text', or 'red' button. I can clear it by pressing 'red', 'text' or 'exit'. When the text page appears on its own, it can be used normally to access other pages.

Alternatively, a white "please wait" on a black bar appears every second or so, positioned to the left of where the 'mute' icon appears. This is about twice the size of the normal white on red "please wait" bar that normally appears when selecting 'text'. Pressing 'text' or 'red' does not bring up the text screen.

If on BBC1, this "please wait" just continues to flash, but if I try and watch any other BBC channel, after the first flash of "please wait", the 9200T immediately reverts to BBC1, and continues to flash "please wait". If I select another channel and come back to a BBC channel it may behave normally for a while, or I get the "please wait".

Its not the remote issuing commands, I've taken the batteries out of all the remotes in the room (at the same time).

I've tried putting it into standby and powering down completely, and I've done a reset to defaults - neither had any effect. Only BBC channels are affected, all other channels are fine, as are the CBBC channels at this time of night (21:00, not broadcasting programme).

Its clearly an MHEG issue, I guess the beeb have changed something, and we're going to have to live with it till they undo it or Humax issues yet another fix.

I'm just getting the teletext mysteriously turning up now and again. Hmm... I'll see if this happens when watching Freeview directly from the TV.

Nice to know others have the same problem, I have reported it to the BBC via their web site at the Reception Problems page. Can I suggest others do the same and the BBC might undo what they have done.

Same as plug13amp here with me on the Nottingham transmitter. I get the 'Please Wait' message flashing up top right which triggers the jump to BBC1 from another BBC channel only. My 9200 is powered down at the moment while I came to look here, will go and switch it back on now I know I'm not alone.

I thought I was going mad! Glad I'm not the only one with this issue tonight.

Getting the same thing in North Yorks on my 9200. BBC Two keeps switching to BBC One, sometimes immediately, sometimes after several minutes. Reverted to using the old 8000 which doesn't seem to be affected which makes it look like it's a 9200 only bug.

I was getting yelled at earlier for changing channels when I was sure I never pressed any button.
At least I now know it's not me.
I wonder how long we will have to put up with this oddity.

Also happening in North Yorkshire. Is this a new ploy to get BBC1 ratings up?

I give up - I can't find it, eventhough I searched for that phrase. Can you post a link?

Try the snappy bbc link :

https://faq.external.bbc.co.uk/templ...&uid=111474932

or http://www.bbc.co.uk/reception/ and put your postcode in the "Diagnose your Problem" part of the page.

I am on the Winter Hill transmitter and pausing for a second so that the BBC channel isn't actually live has worked for the last hour.

Why do people want to report a Humax firmware bug to the BBC?

To try and get the BBC to reverse whatever they have done until Humax get it sorted out, I suppose!

Because it apperas to be caused by a change in the data transmitted by the BBC text services earlier this morning. There was an interuption in the financial text services and the problem started after this. As the Humax has been fine for several years and never shown this fault the probability is that the fault is with the data received by it.

I am having the same problem here in east London. Please could someone post on here if they find a fix!

But it begs the question, why just the 9200 ?

Is the right answer. Easier and quicker to get the BBC to fiddle a cludge than to wait for the Humax glacier to roll to the rescue.

I suggest "caused" is not the right word. "Triggered" is more appropriate. An existing latent bug has eventually been found out.

Same woes here in Hampshire from the Rowridge transmitter.

One other thing I noticed - if you are genuinely trying to navigate around the red button menu, it appears to be impossible to go to the index page, it just exits. (only for the top menu to reappear some random time later!).

Have reported it, hopefully the BBC will sort it soon.

Will give the 1 second pause workaround a go in the meantime.

I am on Sutton transmitter and have been getting the problem of the Humax going over to text by itself. This happens on both of my 9200T units.
