Mine isn't switching channels but text keeps coming on when watching BBC, only way I found to stop is is to rewind a few seconds as text won't work if using time delay.

Spoke to Humax earlier and it is a national problem they are looking into, they sent me an email with a possible fix which I have copied below.

Dear Sir / Madam

Please follow these instructions to complete the switch over in your area, for more information on the switchover please contact the Digital UK – 08456 50 50 50 - http://www.digitaluk.co.uk

Please be aware that the Digital Switch over only applies to Freeview, if you are receiving signals via a Satellite or Cable you do not require a retune in regards to the Switch over,

Following these instructions will reset some system settings including your Recording Schedule (Please replace when complete to ensure you still record favourite programmes)

However any recorded programmes will be saved.

By following these instructions you will be able switch your unit over for the digital change,

1. Press the MENU button on the Humax remote,
2. Using the directional buttons move to Installation and press OK,
3. Enter the password (Default is “0000”)
4. Move to Default Setting and press OK
5. A pop up will appear, Move to YES and press OK,
6. Enter the password (Default is “0000”)
7. “Now initialising all setting values!” will appear, please allow a few seconds for the unit to reboot,
8. After the Loader version will be followed by an AUTOMATIC SEARCH,
9. STOP THE SEARCH IMMEDIATLEY, by pressing OK
10. Press OK to acknowledge “No Channels Found”
NOTE: If any channels are found during the automatic search do NOT save the Results.
11. When you see the Notice “No channels are available now, Please press ok to search channels”
12. Press the OK button to open the Installation menu;
13. Move to “Manual Search” and Press OK

Please Read Carefully:

• Highlight Channel and press OK
• From the List (21 – 69) select the channel number you require and press OK,
• Select Search and press OK, once the search is complete Save the results
• Conduct this search for all the channel numbers below:

Channel 1: 62
Channel 2: 59
Channel 3: 58
Channel 4: 61
Channel 5: 55

Once you have completed searching and saving all the channel numbers and the programmes that they provide press the EXIT button on the remote to return to BBC1, your unit is now ready to function having survived the digital switch over, your EPG (Guide) will not be populated, for best results leave on BBC1 for a couple of minutes while it populates,

Important Note:

Your Screen Ratio will have Shrunk; To correct this after the tune please access the Menu, Press OK on PREFERENCES, then OK on AV CONTROL, and then OK on SCREEN RATIO to change it to 16:9 then press EXIT to finalise,

Any further issues please contact us – uksupport@humaxdigital.com – 0844 669 8800,

Many Thanks,

Karl

I've just emailed uksupport@humax-digital.co.uk and will phone them up later today. My TV, a Sony, doesn't have the channel switching or Teletext issue. Interesting to see that a .22 9200T isn't having this issue while the .23 is (as mentioned by an above poster), but I suppose it's not that strange at all. Ho hum, just when all things were swimming along just fine...

Grum633,

I don't think the Default Setting will fix the problem, plugs13amp (post #6) has already reported doing it with no improvement.

Surrey pointing at Crystal Palace.

The "Please wait" message and switching from any BBC channel to BBC1 started last night 15 March. However, the "Please wait" message started to appear on the evening of the 14 March, but the channel switching did not occur.

I suspect that the problem originates from the digital changeover due at the end of this month. For some reason, some control signal is being transmitted to all regions (not just those due to change at the end of this month). The control signal is being misinterpreted by the PVR-9200T.

Unfortunately, if I am correct, then no amount of default setting or channel scanning will fix the problem.

Phew - it isn't just me, that's a big relief. I didn't really fancy having to buy another PVR9200 with HD coming to my area in the next 12 months or so. I'm saving those pennies for the HD box.

I started getting the problem yesterday evening and after re-tuning all my channels (and losing everything in my recording schedule of course...) I was starting to pull my hair out when I thought I'd google "humax pvr9200 changing channel" which brought me to this thread.

As suggested above, a brief pause on BBC2 seems to be doing the trick for a quick-and-dirty fix.

Let's hope BBC and Humax can resolve this issue.

Hello everyone

We are looking at this, however currently we're rather confused as to why this is happening, and why it only seems to occur to the PVR-9200.

To help us dig a little, would you mind letting me know when you first noticed this problem? All the comments were posted here after 9pm - did anyone see it before then? And if you did, had you used the box to view a BBC channel prior to that time? Is it the same on all BBC channels?

And if you are seeing this on another device, can you let us know which and we'll see if we have one in stock.

Any help you're able to give us in putting the picture together will be very helpful.

Im sure the programme makers, commissioning editors and senior management will be well interested !

Anyway, mines still doing it at 14:36pm

Also mailed Humax

"Thank you for taking the time to send us your views. We appreciate all the feedback we receive as it plays an important role in helping to shape our decisions.

It isn't possible for us to respond individually to comments, so this is an automated message to let you know that we’ve read your feedback and will log the details (removing any personal details) so they can be reported back to the wider BBC, including programme makers, commissioning editors and senior management.

Thanks again for contacting the BBC.

Best wishes

NB: Please do not reply to this email. It comes from an automated account which is not monitored."

It started for me while I was watching 'Eggheads' on BBC2 yesterday evening. Sometime around the middle of the programme.

Did you notice it yesterday morning, afternoon or evening? Or all three?

As much information as we can get will help us as we try and find out what's going on here.

Hi there,

We had this problem at approx 0730 today (Weds). Machine was switched on from standby and came up on BBC1, however, blank screen. Switched to ITV, all ok, switched to News24, ok, although not sure how long for. Switched to BBC1, then Text Menu issue.

Still doing it on BBC1 and BBC news24. Will check the others.

Do you remember if you watched anything on the BBC last night? If you did, I presume it all worked.

We started getting this problem last night probably between 8-9pm and had it again just a few minutes ago so have turned the Humax 9200 off and are using our TV's built in Freeview with no problems.

Started for me yesterday as well, in Romford, Essex using Crystal Palace as far as I know. Why do companies mess about with things that aint broke, then come on here and state they have no idea why it is happening?

See message #54

The "Please wait" message started appearing during Newsnight 14 March, but may have been present before - not seen because not watching BBC until 10 o’clock news. It did not cause the channel switching on the 14 th.

Today, watching and recording "Daily Politics" on BBC2. Problem occurred a few times while watching. However, the recording was complete. Therefore, problem is only affecting live TV watching.

Hi,

It started for me yesterday, mid morning Tuesday, I tried to go on the Financial pages at 200 when I was on BBC1 and got the message that the service wasn't available, I then had difficulty navigating within the text and after I closed it, It popped up again. I hid the remotes in another room and it carried on throwing the text screen by itself. I then tried changing to BBC 2 which is when it would switch back to BBC 1 . This behaviour carried on the rest of the day. My wife said she had problems with teletext earlier in the morning (she gets up before me) but was unable to describe the symptoms. The Freeview box is a Humax 9200T and I am in Cheshire receiving my signal from Winter Hill. My friend in the Worcester area with the same box is having the same problem. It seemed to be quieter this morning with just infrequent text throws but started more frequently after about 14:00hrs. Pausing the BBC channel for a few seconds so it isn't a "live" transmission solves the problem but you then dont have access to the "Red Button" .(which I guess proves that it is text/red button related)
Thanks
Nigel

For me it started just before mid-day Tuesday 16th whilst channel hopping between BBC News (ch80) and Sky News (ch82), although I had been watching the Japan coverage on both since around 10am. see post #6 for more details.

As to the posts starting around 9pm, I for one spent a long time convincing myself that it wasn't a remote (not necessarily a Humax one) playing up, nor a signal level problem or a very confused 9200T.

Yep, all fine last night. Just checked other BBC channels - BBC Parliament OK, CBeebies OK, however on Cbeebies, when I pressed the text key, it flicked me to BBC 1- Just tried it again and OK so not sure if that's relevant.

Other Integrated digital sets in the house, Samsung, Wharfdale and Alba all OK

I first noticed the problem between 20:30 and 21:00 last evening, did not view BBC before then. BBC3, BBC4 and BBC News (ch80) where the channels I tried. Still had the problem this morning on BBC News (ch80), problem does not happen from a BBC radio channel. Also see my post #37.

Having returned to BBC news 24, after about 2 minutes its flicked me back to Cbeebies Text screen, with news 24 sound!

Our 9200 first started switching to BBC1 and bringing up text at about 4:10pm yesterday afternoon during Helicopter Heroes on BBC2. The box had been switched off since 8:30am before that. Also brings up text when watching BBC1 and CBBC. Our signal is from the Keighley transmitter.

Thanks everyone who has replied so far. We've been slightly hampered in all this by the fact that the office 9200T is working fine, however a colleague is bringing one over from another office which has shown the problems most of you are describing. Our office version has v1.00.21 of the firmware rather than the latest v1.00.23.

We've made no changes that are likely to bring this kind of odd behaviour about, hence our confusion however we're doing our best to try and work out what's going on.

Correction: the second box is running .21 software. It is still immune to the fault.

I downgraded box1 to .22 (because of my faulty memory) and then to .21, but it is still suffering from the fault. Very odd.

OK, sussed a pattern here. If I switch to ITV, all ok, then to BBC1, after a few minutes Text menu appears. If I exit, go to Cbeebies, hit Text to bring up the Cbeebies text screen and then exit, return to BBC1, after normal delay, Cbeebies Txt (full Screen).
A repeatable fault, excellent, I thought I'd retired from SW testing!

My box is running .23.

After a re-set to default settings I then tried deleting all unwanted channels (lots of them) including 45 (which I think is new) . Didn't make any difference it still switches channels and jumps to text.
