I have the same problem here in North London. I first noticed it yesterday (15-3-11) at around 5pm. My 9200T started switching from BBC News to BBC1, and at the same time it changed my customer setting from "Favourite1" to all tuned channels in channel order each time. I also noted the occasional teletext overlay and the "Please wait" bar flashing when the channel switch happens.

Today it happened a few times, particularly persistently at around 2pm - during the weather forecast just before 2pm it switched me to BBC1, I switched back the BBC News, it switched me back within seconds. That lasted for a while so I gave up and watched SkyNews. However, now it has been runnng on BBC News for about an hour, to exactly 5pm, without any troubles.

First noticed this problem on Tuesday not long after mid-day. The problem is not there all the time, but is periodic (unknown - pobably variable - interval), and I suspect that when some people believe they have fixed the issue, their action merely coincides with it going away for a while.

Same problem in Reading off Crystal Palace. Started yesterday. Removed batteries from remote. Default and rescanned. Was going to format tonight but won't bother now.

Our office version has v1.00.21 of the firmware rather than the latest v1.00.23.

We've made no changes that are likely to bring this kind of odd behaviour about, hence our confusion however we're doing our best to try and work out what's going on.

Hi, I'm on Caradon Hill, problems started between 1100 and 1700 yesterday, still happening now. Please note that my firmware was updated to v1.00.23 on 20th May 2010 and I haven't had any problems till now.

Noticed the problem with 9200T yesterday (Tuesday 15 March) at around 6pm whilst watching CBeebies (well, I wasn't watching CBeebies ) The problem could have happened earlier in the day but I wasn't paying much attention.

I am using software version 23. Crystal Palace transmitter.

I also noticed that a basic Pacific Freeview box (three years old) identified that a software upgrade was available to download OTA despite no upgrade being available as far as I can see. This started yesterday morning (Tuesday).

Could be a coincidence but I doubt it.

Some sort of change to the BBC data streams/red button service seems to be the culprit.

I first noticed it on Tuesday 15th Mar 2011 at 18:30 - switching from Cbeebies to BBC1. It started reoccuring again at about 21:10, from BBC2 to BBC1.
Haven't tried today, will check when I get home.

Hi, I'm in East Devon and first had this probably about 5.30pm yesterday with the channel switching from CBeebies to BBC1. We noticed the 'Please wait' message flicking on and off in the top right corner last night around 9.30pm on BBC News channel and also this morning while watching BBC1

Hi - we have had the same problem with our Humax PVR 9200T since yesterday. if you try to put on CBeebies , it switches to BBC1. There's a message 'please wait' in the top right hand corner of the TV that comes and goes.
Have emailed Humax and hoping for a fix asap
We are in Shrewsbury, Shropshire

Same thing has been happening to me here in Edinburgh. I suspect it's a transmitter issue although I'm not techically proficient.

It does however seem to have corrected itself.

So far.....

Agreed, although unless the BBC change is "off spec" then it is a Humax issue, esp given it appears to be the only kit affected.

Having said that, I'm not sure how long Humax should be expected to support a 6 year old box - seems no reports from newer models.

To help us dig a little, would you mind letting me know when you first noticed this problem? All the comments were posted here after 9pm - did anyone see it before then? And if you did, had you used the box to view a BBC channel prior to that time? Is it the same on all BBC channels?

And if you are seeing this on another device, can you let us know which and we'll see if we have one in stock.

Any help you're able to give us in putting the picture together will be very helpful.

First occurred for me on Monday afternoon. The 9200 was recording Helicopter Heroes around 3pm and wouldn't let the channel change to another BBC channel. Fortunately I was able to escape to Deal or No Deal on Channel 4 !
The issue could have started earlier but the set hadn't been switched on to watch up 'til then.
For reference- Oliver's Mount Tx.

May be a coincidence but I noticed a couple of others had similar timings of events:

After a brief outage of the financial sub page of the news text menu the problem seemed to start.

Absolutely right but try getting an elderly person nearing 90 who has had a stroke to cope with that.

I'm not sure it is the only kit affected. I notice that my cheap Pacific box is freezing whilst searching for the software update it believes is available.

Something has changed. Let's see if more problems start to surface on other boxes over the next few days.

Humax has made a commitment to continued support of the 9200T. The box is still available to buy as new in many Tesco stores and Humax Direct was selling it until recently.

Thank you to Andrew at the BBC for looking into this.

I hope that between them, the BBC and Humax can sort it out.

We noticed the same problems starting last evening with our Humas PVR-9200T:

Last night, and again this morning, when attempting to watch either BBC2 or the BBC News Channel the PVR will switch back to BBC1 - either immediately, or after a few minutes.

This does not appear to be happening on other channels.

This problem has never manifested itself previously.

The is also no problem with viewing either BBC2 or BBC news on a Samsung Television's in-built Freeview Decoder.

We also had a problem with a message box at the top
right of the screen that flashed erratically with the words "Please Wait". We had not pressed any buttons to request an interactive service.

Although it may be a coincidence, this coincided with a message box that appeared last night on ITV1 while watching the 10 O'clock News announcing Digital Switch Over in September. This was received on the Samsung TV tuner - not sure if it was viewable on the Humax PVR as we'd switched to using the TV tuner by then.

This was the first time that we'd seen this announcement and I don't know if there's any connection?

I did a full channel re-scan on the Humax 9200 this morning to see if that would sort out the BBC1 revert problem, but it did not cure it.

Thanks again for any help.

My 9200T is also suffering from this problem. I noticed it this morning. Only BBC channels are affected. I am tuned to the Tacolneston transmitter. I hope the problem is soon resolved.

Hello all

Just to let you know we've a temporary fix for this, so hopefully you can now watch BBC channels without problems. It went live about twenty minutes ago and our (newly upgraded) PVR9200 seems to be working fine. I hope it will be for you as well.

Now that we've done that, we're going to try and find out what's actually causing the problem in the first place.

If anyone still has problems, it might be worth trying to reboot your PVR via the switch at the back of the unit. Obviously if that doesn't work, let me know.

This fix seeems to be working for me at the moment. Other sysmptoms I had was the red button was not always bringing up the menu and even when it did if you scrolled down to "Index" at the bottom and clicked on OK, nothing happened. Then subsequently the "red button menu" would appear randomly. None of these is now happening.
