Coffee
I guess a bit of advice but not worthy of the advice thread, lol, also a question though!
When did you first start to enjoy coffee? I never liked when younger but always told it was a taste I would like when older. Anyway on the odd times I have tried it I still don't like it. I wondered if I could train myself to like it? I know it sounds odd but i can't drink energy drinks because the make me feel ill and tea doesn't do it for me energy wise. I need a massive surge of energy over the next couple of days and considering coffee - does it make you feel much different to normal? Aid concentration etc? |

It doesn't do any of that energy stuff for me - I just like the taste.

Coffee used to make me physically sick if i ever drank it, but about 5/6 years ago i decided to try some proper stuff from a local coffee shop and from that moment onwards i was addicted, out of the instants Carte Nior absolut is best with Egberts Pure gold a little far behind, as for proper coffee i like most, but i tried a cup of that coffee thats pooed out by monkeys and thats awesome, too pricey to buy though, asdas extra special moutain is nicest "cheaper" brand i have found
Although it will never suceed tea as my favourite drink |

When I was younger I despised coffee, I had spit out even a sip and it left a horrible taste in my mouth. I was still under this impression until not so long ago when I bought tea from a vending machine and had drunk about 1/5th of it before I realised it had actually given me coffee, I just thought it was strong tea. So, overtime my tolerance for it has apparently increased.

I suppose you could train yourself to like it.. you can do that with pretty much anything.
I've always liked the taste of coffee. I don't drink much of it though, I try to limit my caffeine intake to very little. Coffee doesn't wake you up and give you energy.. it just removes the caffeine withdrawal symptoms you were experiencing... |

Didn't like it when I was younger, like it now though. Perks me up for about 15 minutes if that.

I think its the same with Beer. I hated the stuff, even a mouthful made me want to gip. That became rather embarassing when I hit 18 / 19, and was starting to go out with the lads. They'd get a round in.. and i'd be like "eeerr.. sorry could i get a smirnoff ice?" or i'd have a few ciders. But beer!! arghhh it was foul.
Once I hit about 25, I started getting better with it, wasnt so keen on it, but would perhaps manage a pint. Then as time progressed I actually started to like the stuff. Now I love a good pint or 7 of beer! I really have no idea why this is! |

I've had coffee a few times (mainly when trying to overcome a hangover
). But I cannot for the life of me understand this 'culture' that's commercially burgeoned around it in the last 10 years or so.

When I was a child/young teenager there was this shop that sold coffee beans and I would hate walking past it and would hold my breath as I couldn't stand the smell. I hated the taste of coffee and would only drink tea. As I grew up I started liking the taste more and more, for the next 15 years I would drink tea normally but often have a craving for coffee. At work I would only drink coffee.
Now when I'm out in the town I wuill goto a coffee shop and buy a proper coffee (made from actual beans) Today I actually brought myself a coffee maker so I can do away with the instant stuff, the real stuff is so much nicer. I remembe when I was in my last year of school I was always in the coffee shop, my drink of choice was always cappuchino or espresso. |

I started drinking it a couple of years ago and found I liked it. I do also tend to find I'm more alert after drinking it.
But one cup/mug goes through me quicker than a couple of pints. |

And the price! Over two squids for a cup on the high street. FFS, I know how much it costs. I make it often.
...not idi-bots paying shy of £5 for a cup of mass-produced tar mainly consisting of sugar and fat, in a place that couldn't be any more self-referentially mocking of them with a name such as 'Costa'. |

Coffee to me is Nescafe! Nescafe! The better way to start your day! Isn't it time that you woke up to a richer, smoother tasting cup!...

I don't like coffee but when I was in Sweden and there was no tea available I started drinking mild coffee and I quite liked it. I Never kept it up though once I came back and could get a nice cup of tea again.

We have a Cuisinart DGB-600BC. It has a built in grinder.. so fresh ground coffee every time. |

Only one a day - and at the moment it's that instant muck as me coffeemaker died horribly. I need caffeine to function but generally get by with the caffeine that's in tea. I drink tea constantly. I'd set up a drip with it in, if I could. I don't function til I've had several teas and 1 coffee in the morning.

I can't remember when I first started drinking coffee, I know I was still at school as we used to have a jug of what they called coffee on the table at lunch time.
As I got older I started to drink more of it, went off tea, not because of the taste, but because it made me feel sick. Now Coffee is all I drink, I start the morning with a espresso. I try not to drink instant coffee, if I do then it is either Dowe Egbert or Sainsburys own gold. Coffee in costa is ok, I mainly drink black coffee and Costa is nice black, Nero is better, much stronger. I don't like Starbucks, the best coffee if I am out in town and want a cup is a local street cafe, very nice coffee. but I do prefer to make my own. |
