Would appreciate some non techy speak advice!
(and sorry for posting again but nobody responded in the other forum and I am desperate!)

Just had my Samsung Plasma TV connected to Virgin HD. Unfortunately I was out when it was done, but when i came home the first thing I noticed was that the picture appeared very elongated. I'm not sure if this has anything to do with the HD connection or whether the tech guy decided that we had been viewing it at the wrong ratio fo the last few months. Anyway. I hate it!

It was set at 16:9 and I have gone into the menu and played around with it but can't seem to get it any better. 4:3 crops the entire picture and the zoom feature looses the outer edges.

Is this elongated picture normal ? Can anyone suggest a fix ? Thanks

to me 16.9 is normal , and I leave it there

you could put the telly on AUTO , but all that jumping at adverts, or switching channels does my head in

its ' wife proof ' at 16.9

You should also check that your Virgin box knows it is connected to a 16:9 widescreen TV and / or that you are actually viewing it over the HDMI connection rather than SCART.

HD forces you to watch it in the correct aspect ratio. If you want to distort the picture, you have to set it to SD.
