I am not so sure about that. The size and weight of the battery would play a big part. I think making a battery big enough to last 48 hours would make it too big and heavy.
I dont see a problem with charging every night. Its what I do. If your going to have a smartphone, then you had better get used to charging every night.
I have a Desire HD, with a MIUI rom, with a battery fix in it. Last night I got a 14% drain on battery over a 9hr period. The phone was in standby all this time, with the wifi being activated every 30mins for updates (via juice defender). Thats not bad going. Other people have commented they get around a 1% drain per hour.

Agree with this, task killers are a big no no on android phones. The OS is clever enough to manage its resources.
