I was thinking of getting the Onkyo HT-S6305 Home Cinema and wanted to hear it at Richer Sounds first and compare with other systems. They told me that they were not stocking it any longer. So I called Onkyo and they said that this model has just been discontinued and they had no other updates.

Looks I'll have to wait until there's a replacement, if there is one.

Generally models only last a year or so, presumably the last production batch has been sold now?, and production lines will be moved to a newer model.

Unfortunately, if the item sells well, the last production run might have all been sold well before the new ones are available - this is quite common.

Try the Onkyo TX-SR608. You should be able to get that for less than £400, and I'm sure Richer Sounds will do a package that includes a reasonable quality set of speakers for under £550.

I know it's considerably more than the HT-S6305, which I believe includes speakers, but it is a much higher specification anyway.

However, I've been able to find loads of places selling the S6305 from £338 inc. dely. Although a little more expensive, Ballicom have 10 in stock.

Thanks for the feedback.

I would have liked to listen to the Onkyo before purchasing.

My budget was ~£400 total.

Also, the £338 you quoted from Ballicom is ex VAT.
