Personally I don't care if I never see the ruddy headbanger ever again.......

I don't find it thrilling, scary or even dangerous - its boring and pointless when done by a male pro/ female celeb combo. The pro knows what he's doing and will never put his celeb partner in any danger whatsoever.....

Drop it - and lets see fewer gimmicks that don't have an equivalent move that a male celeb/ female pro combo can do as impressively.

I really like Laura, but I don't like the headbanger. However, I can't see a problem with it, if it is only a small part of the routine. She clearly can skate and if she wants to challenge herself with a dangerous move, then good for her.

its not Chloes fault that shes likeable and clearly very popular,as you say getting more votes.”

Please answer a genuine question - not intended to induce argument - but if Chloe's best performances have been pleasurable to watch why do you consider Laura's best performances an attempt to outdo others?

Why was Chloe's handstand lift jaw dropping, yet Laura's proposed headbanger attention seeking?

Whichever way you look at it the dispassionate view becomes ever more obvious by its absence.

Clearly all competitors hope to blow the opposition away - why is this more acceptable in Chloe in Laura?

I'm genuinely puzzled.

I don't like the headbanger either, doesn't look that good and there's the scariness of it that someone will get badly hurt or worse. I don't think there's a lot between the two top girls they are somewhat different in style, I prefer Chloe but Laura has her strengths and is an enjoyable performer but just isn't exciting and the headbanger might just back fire as many don't seem to like it.

Is Chloe too tall for the headbanger ?

I'm sure she is - but then some of her moves would look less elegant by a shorter skater.

Both girls have their strengths and weaknesses; such a pity some just can't see it without attaching labels such as desperate and attention seeking in an attempt to disparage the opposition.

I actually agree with you. I really like both girls, and I think they are absolutely fabulous. I hope that Laura's headbanger goes alright, particularly as it seems a more difficult one.

Anyway, I wouldn't want to do a headbanger so I always admire anyone trying it., even if I don't like the actual move.

So in a week when skating is exceptionally important, T&D are wasting Laura's practice time on the loathsome headbanger.

I remember one of her twitcams back in January where she said she'd started to learn the headbanger so perhaps it won't take up too much practice if she's been learning it for a while

But it isn't really Laura doing it - Colin is. But that's the inherent problem with the show - its easier for a female celeb with a male professional to look good performance wise as the man is the one taking the lead with the lifts etc. The male celebs have it tougher - they cannot be carried around.”

It will be more down to her to take off correctly as she's doing it from a standing position (remember it was from this position that Bonnie cracked her head on the ice), although I agree once this bit is over that it's Colin doing the work. However this is at least an improvement on when Hayley/roxanne did it when all they had to do was stick their foot out for Dan.

I'm with Sid though that the headbanger has lost it's novelty value.

Actually, I can understand your frustration. I still think she will be great though.

plus if they're doing the headbanger version where you have to come out of it on foot as well it's more tricky so that takes skill from the girl too

but I agree that the novelty value has gone from it but I suppose they are limited as to what new moves they can incorporate every year as most of them have been attempted by someone sometime although obviously the back flip was new

I just don`t understand why some people are so against anyone trying their hardest to win a competition.

They both seem to be perfectly nice girls to me. And heaven forbid that someone should be competitive in a competition. They are both very good and are both trying to win. Chloe hasn't got to be as good as she is over the last few weeks by not being competitive.

Absolutely and this comment from Chloe (re; the team challenge) surely proves there's no lack of competitive spirit there.

Headbanger is no longer an 'impressive' move to me every girl has done it from Hayely Tamaddon to Roxanne Pallet. I'm kind of disappointed, I would love to see Laura try a new different lift thats perhaps more aesthetically pleasing then just being there for entertainment value (Chloe's handstand one springs to mind, I'd never seen that one done before.)

I really liked the handstand ... that was one of my favourite Chloe routines ... loved the lift sequence at the start

yeah the headbanger is a bit old hat but it seems to be the one the producers like to include every year and make something of (at least one female celeb has to do it each year it seems) .... but Laura has said that she has a lot of other tricks in her routine so whilst the producers may want to make it the focus of her routine (I think they like to make VT's with people wearing crash helmets ) I'm sure there'll be a lot more to it than just focusing on that

From the preview on This Morning this week it looked like Chloe was rehearsing the back flip thng that Laura did a couple of weeks ago .. so again a sign that T&D are running out of original stuff to work into the routines .. although I suppose there comes a time when there are only so many ways to lift someone or spin them around, hence all the repeats

no doubt to prove that he can do it .. bit risky if it goes wrong again . they must be confident that it won't

But yes there's more to Dancing On Ice each year than the headbanger . . there are a lot more difficult lifts/spins etc but it's the headbanger that they always seem to like to plug as the biggie . perhaps because it looks the most dangerous

In her typical fashion Laura really comitted to this allowing Colin to polish the ice with her hair.
By contrast, the experienced pro,Brianne, seemed to protect herself a little by holding her head well up and leaving her shoulder as the most likely first contact point with the ice.

I can't blame Brianne ... I would presume that any girl doing a headbanger would have more trust in Colin the pro than Sam the amateur

Well I like both Laura and Chloe. I don't mind Sam either, he's probably the best skater but I can't warm to him as much. Johnson is an inspiration, but doesn't deserve to be in the final in context of ability.

I find both Laura and Chloe's personalities great. Both are happy, smiley, competitive girls. What's not to like? It's a competition for god's sake. Only on here would you have someone slagging a contestant off for being competitive in a competition

Laura, Chloe and Sam for the final. Would love a Laura & Chloe final 2, but with Laura going on to win.

But back on topic - I hate the headbanger. What's the point in doing something so risky? It doesn't even look good.

Sorry,I didn't make that clear, but I was contrasting the enthusiastic maybe headstrong amateur to the experienced, possibly thus more careful, pro.
