250MB internet on a HTC Desire HD - is that enough?
Okay this is probably such a basic question but I'm terrible with mobiles to be quite honest.
I'm currently on a Tocco Lite with Orange - had it for about a year, on a 30 day Sim plan. So I've decided I want to change to a contract and I really like the look of the HTC Desire HD. For my price range Orange have offered me one of the Dolphin contracts but the internet data is only 250MB, is that enough? The most I'd usually be doing is Facebook, Twitter, the apps on the Android market, and basic internet browsing. Any help appreciated, thanks in advance. |

Thats quite stingy, depends on your usage if you use it everyday then I do not think that is enough.

You'd use that in the first day downloading apps from the Android marketplace! I use about 1Gb a month on my Desire and thats with me still connected to my wifi when at home. (so not using the internet through the mobile network).

You can download apps over wi-fi and save on that. If you want to stream videos from youtube and such you will need more. I have 250MB plan and hardly used more than 100MB monthly. But then I do not watch videos and install apps mostly over wi-fi.

To fully take advantage of having a smartphone, especially if you are wanting watch BBC iplayer / TV catchup.com or other streaming sites, you are going to need more data.

try 3 as you have more than enough data allowance with them. Desire hd is 35 a month on the one plan with free phone 24 month contract though.
Just check reception in your area for 3 before hand |

250 mb is a very low usage allowance. If you have the phone set to sync Facebook, twitter, weather etc you could soon go over that usage allowance. I have 750mb usage allowance with Orange on their panther plan and that is just about enough for me.

My £10 O2 bolt-on gives me 500MB and I rarely need it. I live in a very low reception location and work from home, so most of my downloads are done on my own wi-fi.
I think this month so far I've used 46MB only, which was mostly a bit of navigation in the car. |

Can't edit my previous post so here is my data usage on my HTC desire. My allowance starts on the 24th of each month and up to now i have used 666.3mb and this is made up of twitter and facebook updates every 4 hours, weather updates every 4 hours, news updates every 4 hours and the odd few minutes of internet each day.
