Hey there,

I have an LG GT540 Android mobile and I want to update it with the latest version of Android, Is that possible yet? And if so how?

Also I don't know if its just the LG that has this problem, but when I switch off my phone, then switch it on again, No startup screen appears at all, it vibrates a little then screen goes black(Like its off) then it lights up(But screen still black) then I have to press the HOME key to enter my pin.

Should it do this? Thanks for all your help!

The official way is to use the LG Mobile Support Tool

http://www.lg.com/uk/support/mc-supp...ne-support.jsp
I'm sure Carphone Warehouse unlocked GT540 is now there but not sure about all the locked versions.

Backup your phone before using.

You can only officially up-date to android 2.1, I have e-mailed LG and they say they have no plans on updating the GT540 to 2.2/2.3.

Ok, Thanks for that, But should I still get the problems I am getting while switching my phone off? That there is NO start-up screen? That the screen is blank & I have to leave it for like 5 mins then press the home key to enter my pin?

Please help, Any advice would be great!

Cheers

It takes a while to boot and am sure you can remove the pin lock for standby in settings. That certainly never happened on mine which was the original 1.6 firmware.
