Judges on This Morning

When asked to pick their winner:

Robin: Laura
Emma: Laura (well she said that most people she speaks to wants Laura to win)
Jason: Chloe (said that he thinks people identify with her and really like her because she's worked so hard and want her to win)

More evidence that they really don't like Sam. I wonder what it is. I don't warm to him either but it's really evident with the judges. Wonder if something's gone on behind the scenes?

Thought all three of them (and yes that includes Jason!) came across rather well. Emma said very little which was a real bonus of course! Jason had humour and personality and was interesting to hear Robin say he usually agrees with Jason and wishes he had the nerve to say the things Jason does! Also good to see Jason joking about his hats and his hair or lack of. I think all three of them want Laura to win, two of them said so, Jason only said the public identify with Chloe right at the end of the interview and that was the first time she was mentioned. Emma did say she would like to see Sams Bolero but that was the only support he had. I think Sam's lack of personality and adverse publicity may have taken its toll with the judges too, along with the fact that although a good skater, he had skated before whereas the girls hadn't. Enjoyable interview actually!

I think its a shame that the Judges don't support Sam in such an obvious fashion. The solo skate last week proved hat his skating ability is far superior to the girls'. I don't think he has a particularly sparkling personality, but once again it seems to have been forgotten that this is a skating competition. If the competition is based on the skating ability and performance, then Sam should win. However,I think Laura will .

ABC.

Well, it sounds like they picked based on what they thought OTHERS think. I don't suppose it would be very professional for them to give a personal opinion, as unbiased judges, either.

I suspect there may be more support for Sam among the judges than revealed by that interview

Robin definitely said HE wanted Laura to win, nothing to do with others views.

It is perhaps a shame that the judges stated their preferences, although only Robin answered directly when asked who he wanted to win. Emma avoided this by saying everyone she speaks to wants Laura to win and Jason said the public were behind Chloe. But Philip Schofield did ask them a direct question which put them on the spot rather. There is obviously a problem with Sam and it may be that problems were caused for the production team with the stories about him and Brianne proving false and then having to alter video footage accordingly. Sam has had less of a "journey" as he could already iceskate well, so the girls have rather caught him up. For an actor I personally feel his performance skills are poor especially when compared to non-actors like Laura and Chloe who seem to have more personality. But ultimately the judges have no say in the final (although their marks may influence) and the public will decide.

Sam made a mockery of the show with his fake romance, and he had everyone fooled. It's therefore no surprise that the judges don't like him very much, especially when he is so damn sulky when he's not top of the leaderboard.

I wonder whose idea the fauxmance was. Sam's taken a lot of stick but Brianne went along with it.

I doubt very much if it was Sam's idea, more likely Brianne as a newcomer or Sam's management

She's not really a newcomer - she was in the show last year with Kieron.

Personally I reckon it was Sam's management to try and nab him some headlines... or Sam himself - from the off he was playing the 'fancying Brianne' card to the camera's by saying how much he wanted her to be his partner etc

I think thats a further problem with Sam actually. He seems to have little real connection or chemistry with his partner whereas both the girls do. Sam did arguably the best solo skate because he tends to skate as a soloist rather than as part of a duo. All the previous winners like Ray and Maria, Kyran and Mel, Hayley and Dan etc. had a great chemistry and relationship.Maybe that's why Sam and Brianne came up with the story to create that, but it backfired badly.

This is of course your opinion. Not the judges. Not the voting public. And not the majority of reasonable people on this forum.
I don't usually respond to anti Chloe comments. It's a waste of time and energy but this one is completely irrelevant to the thread.
We all know you don't like Chloe. You've made that clear enough. Just tone it down please.
Am I overeacting? Maybe I am. I'm still upset about the fall.
I think that anyone who supports Sam or Laura should be gracious given that their boy/girl did so well. I would be if it was me.

As someone who doesn't read the tabloids I know nothing of a fake romance involving Sam.....

I'm glad as I can judge the contestants purely on their skating abilities without celebrity gossip influencing my opinion.

I think Sam is the best skater and I'd like to see him win this, the rest is just tittle tattle.

I do not read tabloids either, but how you could miss it if you come on this site or indeed watch the show is a mystery! I'm afraid the story is not tittle tattle, it is fact and indeed Sam apologised for it and for misleading people on the show itself, and the Valentines Day video featuring them had to be dropped by the production company after they admitted they were not an item. It is not just an invention of the tabloids I'm afraid, they admitted making up the story live on air.

Rather than look for negative attitudes towards any of the skaters, I wonder if the judges are just being honest on their preference. You can justify any of this year's final three as a worthy winner so perhaps they feel comfortable going with their subjective opinions.

Sam was so good so early on that perhaps there's a genuine disappointment in his perceived complacency. The fauxmance and sulky reaction to less than brilliant scores probably didn't help. By the way, did he ever admit that the romance with Brianne was all nonsense? Or was it just that they had a bit of a fling and went OTT with trying to generate press?

Actually the majority on here - whether they're reasonable or not want Laura to win - nerly 60% at the last count.

Chloe seems to have lost half her support from last week after her average performances and her slip.

Personally I still think any of them can win it

I don't dispute that at all. It's reasonable to support anyone you like. But how many of them would say ABC (Anyone But Chloe) as the poster did? That's my point.
I don't really mind who wins. They are all lovely people. It's only a TV show.
I'm just fed up with a few people (not you) who make sly comments at every turn about Chloe (and Laura and Sam).
I joined DS for fun. But it's not much fun at all.

Laura has some acting experience .. she's had bit parts in 2 films and played the leads in professional Pantomimes .. she also played a character on Fun Factory for a couple of years . so she's not a newcomer to acting/performing

lol .. it does seem lke that particular poster has a strong dislike for Chloe .. which is up to them .... pity they felt the need to come into the Chloe & Michael Appreciation thread to have a dig though ..

try not to let it bother you .. not worth it .... watch the Kiss Kiss video again and let Michael's pecs cheer you up

As for the interview this morning I wish it had been more about the finalists than the judges (especially Jason)

Sam was the one out of everyone at the beginning who was a pretty good skater. Both Chloe and Laura worked their way up each week, and apart from last week Chloe was never in the skate off so she must have a hell of alot of public support.

Danny was in the same series as Kieron but he was skating with Frankie but doing off screen routines with Brianne

I'm not sure, I heard Robin on a local radio interview this pm and he talked a bit more about Sam. He said that while he has the best technical skating ability of the three he feels that Sam holds back when he performs. He said it was like he was so busy concerntrating on his steps and everything he has to do that the overall performance ends up lacking something. Once again he said he tipped Laura to win.

That's interesting because in the same radio interview Robin said he was very impressed by Laura's solo performance because she had never had to perform to an audience like that before. He said she was a TV presenter but not a stage performer and so her performance was all the better because of her confidence and because she was so brave and I quote "sexy"!!!

Robin mustn't be aware of her performance background then ... obviously she's never had to perform infront of a TV audence the size of DOI so that must be nerve racking but she's not a novice at performing (singing, dancing and acting) .. and she's definitely a stage performer as there was an article a while ago where she said she was bullied at school because she tended to get the lead roles in school productions and she's stared in a number of professional panto's (staring alongside the likes of Steven Gateley and Steve Guttenburg .. going as far back as 2005 ..

So all this no acting/performance experience is basicaly untrue and I'm not sure I believe that Robin's not aware of it

Don't worry I believe you!

It's either that as you say Robin doesn't know about her background or chooses to ignore it as it makes her look better if she's portrayed as a novice performer or a mixture of the two!
