That was a terrible scene with the paramedics just walking in very calmly, and surely the Police would have been first on the scene?

Once he manages to get a girlfriend that will be the end of his heroics

Brilliant episode. Interesting case, proper Midsomer setting, some hilarious performances and just the right amount of sheer ridiculousness.

Hmmmmm.

Two weeks of not enough different eccentric suspects.

Two weeks of not enough grizzly murders.

Two weeks of simple solutions. As soon as there had only been one body in the original crash, it had to be Haydn Gwynne who had survived, as there was no body else in the cast who it could be.

I hope this is just while we meet the new cast, and future episodes crank up the death count and the suspects.

.

I'm happy with the eccentrics - (Edward Fox in overdrive, great), but I still think not enough murders and not enough suspects.

It was like last week, there were only two people who were old enough to be the murderer and this week just to make it even easier they put Edward Fox in it, they may as well have just hung a big sign over his head saying 'murderer here.'

I really enjoyed this episode. I am taking to Neil Dudgeon as John Barnaby and it was great to see Julian Ovenden in the cast.

My take on it is this - Jennifer is Ben's Mum; she is also Selina's sister and got pregnant with her own brother. That is why their parents threw them out. The girlfriend of Ben is the STEP-daughter of Selina - in other words the daughter of Neil Pearson's character.

Really enjoyed it this week, much better than last weeks. All the characters were great, from the OTT bitch to the lovely old nutty couple, Edward Fox and Phylida Law. Glad I didn't give up on it after the first week.

The pathologist feller never used to be quite so dim. What have they done to him?

As if he wouldn't have thought it odd to have someone ostensibly drowning in a canoe, while he was wearing a suit, with a dirty great whack to the back of the noggin.

ANd Jones had more sense when he was with John Nettles' Barnaby, too.

I suppose these two have been dumbed down so as NuBarnaby can be seen as being very clever indeed. But making the rest of them thickos is not the way to do it, I don't think.

Thought it was better than last week but still very slow-paced and far too obvious. Totally agree that there just aren't enough suspects so far this series to make it captivating for the whole two hours.

Also, the ending was just a re-hash of last week's. When will the writers realise that "cliff-hanger" endings involving regular characters just aren't very exciting? Unless it's Spooks where they just don't care ).

Again, I know I'm not going to be popular, but I just can't take to the new Barnaby. It's not only his startling resemblance to a certain public school-educated mainstream politician either. He's just rather....dull.

I also really enjoyed tonight's episode. Sad at the lack of Sykes though But I did like Barnaby's wife, which is nice as I never liked Joyce very much.

Just wondering though what's happened to DC Stephens? It just seemed odd that she hasn't been in these past two episodes. And I always thought she would be the one for Ben

That's annoyed me too. It seems Michael Aitkens (writer) has it in for him.

Loved it. We didn't see enough of Harvey though.

We were really going off the old M.S. Joyce and Cully were irritating. This is like a breath of fresh air

It was much funnier than previously. We laughed out loud at some of the one-liners.

I enjoyed it, enjoyable pap, as ever. If viewers are after an accurate police procedural drama then Midsomer just isn't for them. You have to suspend your disbelief big style for MM.

I particularly liked the line where Jones asked him how Barnaby knew that Mrs Barnaby was the "right" woman for him. Barnaby said something to the effect of "She told me!" in a rather droll manner. Cute. I can see Dudgeon becoming something of a housewives favourite.

It was amusing enough but the plot was really silly. As if the bitchy blonde wouldn't recognise her own sister!

Why is Jones so annoying now? He seems to have had a personality transplant.
