About 15 minutes to go. I wonder if Jones will be doing a last minute 'save-the-life-of-the-boss', like in the previous two episodes.

Just superb. Neil Dudgeon's 'Barnaby' has a depth that John Nettles didn't - enjoyable though Nettles was.
This series is simply excellent. Well done ITV. |

Very good episode!
It was refreshing to have a true serial killer, rather than someone bumping off people for revenge or financial gain. The direction was excellent. |

Excellent episode. Not a lot of detecting needed as the killer was caught in the act but at least it wasn't too obvious who it was.

I can't believe not a single comment on the great performance of Sykes tonight usually you can't keep the Sykes fans quiet.
The giveaway to the murderer was when he was asked "If he would have kids" and he said "was passed that". |

I like the new Barnaby, but I though tonight's episode was inappropriate for MM. I watch Midsomer because it's not that explicit, and so does my elderly mother. She said she'll never watch it again after this episode and I feel a it the same way. It was going into much darker territory.

They should of made the murderous priest, a black gay man.
Offend all round.

I enjoyed the darker side of tonight's episode, I hope to see more episodes like this.

I knew it was him from the get-go. I didn't think it was a brilliant episode but it is always nice to see a Midsomer just for the sheer daftness of it.
That barman always plays a baddie doesn't he, from Corrie to Rome - he's just got the face for it! |

That was the best episode in the new series so far, a bit grisly but more exciting than some I have seen. I guessed it was the religious nut early on though.
I agree with what most people have said above, I like the new Barnaby (his wife and dog) but I don't like Jones at all anymore. |

I thought this was the best Midsomer episode ever. I love the fact they have made it darker. They couldn't keep it exactly the same when the lead character changed - they needed to make a change and I love the change.
Really surprising way to end the episode - very usual for a murder mystery programme to close with a caught in the act rather than finding out who it was from clues. It was a bit weird to start with but refreshing and I think it worked. So many well known actors in this one I couldn't work out who the murderer was! I didn't guess. Still love the dog too - he need more airtime! |

I really enjoyed this episode as well - I was surprised by how dark it was. Strangely enough, it actually reminded me of the film Hot Fuzz in places.
PS I thought Kacey Ainsworth looked fantastic - the new hairstyle really suits her. |

I enjoyed it, but it was too easy to guess who the murderer was – the red herrings were too obvious. And there was no real need to go over the killer's actions and motives in detail at the end; it was obvious that it was because his fiancée had dumped him.

Brilliant episode! It was darker in places but it worked. It was scary though especially when the killer was walking through the garden at night with the axe! For once, I bet she's glad there was a peeping tom otherwise, she'd be dead meat!

Aargh, did I miss an episode? As I live in Scotland the ITV England listings don't show up in my tv mag other than regional variations which I forget to look at. Damn.
