Its the first time I've seen the new MM and I think its really good. The old one had got a bit tired. I did think his wife seemed to have a very passive role and they could have used her a bit more. Has it been like that all along?

In this episode, I found it very easy to work out "who dunnit" quite quickly.
Not always so when Barney Bee was in charge. He always seemed to be sent some "divine information" in the last ten minutes of the episode totally unknown to the viewer. |

Slow build up, but it got more captivating as it went on. They certainly piled up the red herrings, with every character either having a thing about weddings, or some kind of bitter grudge about relationships/marriage.
I wondered if the lipstick writing was going to be a clue, because they used lowercase letter e in amongst the caps with the first murder, and other times not. Were there any more bloopers? I spotted one, when Barnaby said to Jo - "it's okay to go into the bathroom, we've removed the body" after we'd already seen Jo looking sadly out the window at them taking the bodybag out to the van. |

The Peeping Tom Landlord did stop Jo becoming a victim of the murderer by raising the alarm. He also supplied Barnaby with some cup hooks.
Other than that they contributed nothing whatsoever. |

The landlord wasn't the peeping tom - the owner of the hardware shop was. The pub landlord was a nasty bit of work.

He wasn't the pub landlord -he was the landlord of the flats where the first girl got killed. And the last nearly did!

Utter Garbage.
Drawn out and analytical ( dumbing down again). Overly dark and graphc. No real warmth. No merry banter and self effacing humour. This new one is just another detective series but branded under the Midsomer banner. It has no connection with Midsomer and the quintissential english village. They could call it Frost, or Lewis, or Barnaby ........its NOT Midsomer any more. Sorry but last nights episode was sh*te. They way they took the last 10 minutes to drag out a " sherlock Holmes style plot " was dull diumbing down. Do the viewers of Midsomer like people to sit down with them and explain a joke to them after you have stopped laughing ? Most people do not like points being laboured.( Im self aware of my own irony on this posting )Jolly Tom is TRUELY missed. This is just dreary. |

The "warmth" isn't there anymore. |

I spotted Stan too! Loved this episode, saw a bit more of Harvey/Spike too. Isn't it nice to watch MM without the irritating Joyce and Cully?

![]() Never found them irritating ( but loved the theory that they were the murderers and Barnaby was covering for them.....well they were always at the scene of a murder LOL ) A trick dog is for Britains Got Talent ...not a quaint quintessential crime series which has turned into a cold charmless, predictible, over produced same old same old detective series. Barnaby, Joyce and Cully were a family in a village, not a distant wife and a trick dog in a disorganised series of screen shots. P.S. I did alert all my pals to Harvey in his ad which I thought cool, but now detracts from the originality of MM. |

maybe i am weird. but i liked the old MM. and i like the new MM. I like that jones and the pathologist bloke 'george' have changed personalities a bit and are on their toes a bit, it would be like that in real life if a new boss swanned in.... everyone changes personalities a bit with new situations and new people. i am interested in Psychology so i like that the new barnaby has a degree and they are all a bit jealous or huffy or feel that they are being analysed. people always get a bit twitchy when you mention anything about psychology... and i like his wife looking bored out of her head eating her curry while he gave her a sweeping history of weird murders and murderers throughout history.... loads of funny bits in it. i keep saying bits i need a thausarus. and a dictionary i cant spell!!!
