Best of the New one's by far I thought. Bit of a jump to find the killer but all in all an enjoyable one.

Anyone know if there will be another series? |

I thought Sarah Barnaby worked at a primary school, but last night's new episode showed her working at a school that had a sixth form?

I assume the new Barnaby does not have any family. I do rather miss Cully , even if she was ony in the programme for 5 minutes at a time. |

I'm glad to see that people are more positive about last nights epsiode. I thought with the comments regarding the previous one that MM may be doomed.

Funny the last scene foto bit had me thinking .
I say this because the first thing I thought after the foto was taken was " he will use it against Jones at some time in the future." Still cant see the warmth ... ![]() If it was john Nettles I would have thought " took photo as sign of love / affection for Jones " Just shows the difference in dynamics I am percieving . Bit better episode though . The writers hullucigens must be wearing off. good to get into plot for a change.

She is actually the Headmistress. A clip was shown of the outside of the school with Sarah Barnaby as the Head. I have to admit that if I was in her school I would have deliberately misbehaved in the hope she would cane me, we never had any sexy looking teachers like her in my day , just old bags!

didn't quite get the video thing. One minute he's analysing the video over and over and can't see anything. Then there's a massive close up of the oboe guy catching the tiara. Wouldn't that have been obvious on the first viewing?

Don't understand why the wife told Barnaby that she was pregnant with her late husbands baby.
He had already told her it couldn't be his due to the vasectomy, however I can see that if she had said nothing there wouldn't have been much of a story. |

Enjoyed this, best actor was still the dog.
Barnaby seems to be enjoying the "high living" which obviously comes with the promotion. it took John Nettles many years to reach the same size. Pleased about Jones, he's been portrayed as being quite bright, to dim in different episodes, in this he appeared quite normal. |

Nice seeing Paul Nicholls as a scruff! And I'm glad he is in Law and Order UK.

Agree with all the above, easily the best one so far. Jones back to normal, good relationship between the two. Good story with some nice humour and a few dead end trails. I thought there would be some significance to the guy with the sniffles and I also thought the time of death might not have been 12.00 but earlier when they talked about the echos around the lake. Full credit to the writer Steve Trafford. Hopefully they will continue in this vein.

On the ITV player, last night's episode is just 1 hour and 10 mins, and it seems to be in 5 parts as opposed to the usual 7. Does this seem strange to anyone else? The normal run-time of a Midsomer Murders episode is 1 hour 30 minutes, and last night's episode didn't feel shorter than the rest.
EDIT - Looks like part of the episode has been missed out on the ITV player. The scenes involving Barnaby getting the shotgun cartridges, and the bit where Ralph's secret involving the stuffed hoopoe is exposed, as well as when Barnaby saw that crucial video clip, are among the bits missing on the ITV player. |

This was definitely the best so far with Jones being back to normal although I could have done without all the ballet scenes. It could have been done and dusted in an hour

I thought it was fine. A mid week romp with no pretentions to be anything other than an easy to watch crime drama.
(I had one of those blue crested hoopooes in the back of me cab once....) |
