same here - I actually thought that the evil twin had killed the good twin and then taken his place - might have been more plausible

I'm really chuffed with this recent episode. Brilliant stuff, plenty of humour and the reviews have been really positive. The ratings are up to 6.1 million viewers - Midsomer is definitely back on track .

Am I the only one who watched the whole programme and did not realise until the credits that it was the same actor?

I spent most of the episode wondering! Was surprised they didn't do more with it though.

I thought that it was the best one so far, Neil is no the new Barnaby why can't people just enjoy it. Some of the old MM were a bit daft at times as well, but not many people moaned because they liked John Nettles,so cut Neil etc a bit of slack it is never easy taking over from someone else after such a long time

6.1m viewers who couldn't be arsed to get up and change channel. (and I include myself in that).
It was rubbish.

The latest episode was an improvement. But having watched some old episodes with Tom, I realise how much charm it's lost. I miss Tom, Joyce and Cully. John is just a bit too smug for me at times.

But I do like Jonesy taking the mickey out of him for being a bit snobby.

I thought that was a thoroughly dull denouement. Younger bro killed half the cast so he could make sure his wife (who, bizarrely, seemed to adore him) wouldn't leave him. Er... yes. Oh, and of course, struck dumb young person suddenly regains the function of his vocal chords. I think I'd have been happy with the episode if it had had a more convincing end.

That in itself is rubbish if people really don't want to watch something and think it's rubbish then they'll TURN OVER or switch off and if they don't and then waste time on a forum slagging it off - er how sad are they?? VERRRRYYYY!!!!

I loved it and thought it was brilliant! The twitter feedback for this episode was actually very positive in comparison to the earlier episodes of the previous series. Roll on the next episode.

I didn't enjoy John Nettles in the part all that much and Cully was a waste of space to me, as if someone was giving her the job as a favour. I couldn't see the point of her being in it unless it was for eye candy?

I have been waiting to see if anyone mentions the er nylon looking hair. Perhaps just me then.

The inclusion of Joyce and Cully (given all sorts of jobs for ten years to suit some plots) were only included to make "Barney Bee" appear a less one-dimensional character.

They're managing to do this with the new one, with just a dog.

There's cost savings for you!

Had to smile about the headless horseman, recalling the rhyme in the Will Hay film Ask A Policeman (the cops couldn't remember the last line!)
When the tide runs low in the smugglers' cove
And the 'eadless 'orseman is seen above,
He drives along with his wild hallo...
And that's the time when the smugglers go in their little boats to the schooner, and bring back the kegs of brandy and rum and put them all in the Devil's Cave below

No doubt when the current producer bows out at the end of this season we will get an influx of foreign faces, perhaps just to be extra P.C.the new chief inspector of the nick will be black or Asian, seems to be a favourite theme on TV nowadays, (as well as real life). I'll enjoy it until then.”

When will the great British public start to realise that just because people are not white does not mean they are 'foreign'?!! Sounds like something out of the 1980s!

The pacing is slow, the stories bland and forgettable but worst of all was the last ten minutes where the murderer had been caught before the final ad break and we had ten minutes of analysis. I appreciate the show has to move on but I just feel it has lost its quirky, eccentric sense of direction.

Oh how I miss the twinkle in Tom Barnaby's eyes and his easy-going relaxed manner with Jones.”

I agree - it's the twinkle I missed too!

I understand what provoked you in that post - I strongly disliked it too - but your assumption that the opinion you object to is representative of the mindset of the "great British public" is just as broadbrush and no less offensive.

Wasn't a classic not in the Rainbirds, Mike Spicer, episodes that's for sure. Did take a while to get going.

"What's wrong with this picture?"

Jones' girlfriend kept turning up with a clean uniform but a dirty face.
