(yes I know he's Ben in this but he'll always be Warren to me )

[quote=jtnorth;63979719] What Ben and Kate saw when they undid the bandages - no idea, but I'd be grateful if someone else can explain it./QUOTE]

I didn't understand that either .. they made it look like something was on the dog

I think you have to take this show as a joke. last nights seemed rushed to kill off as many people as possible

Those's cows would not have killed both of those people either

One of the reasons I stopped watching this programme.

I know a bloke (and he's actually a University Professor) who used to watch Diagnosis Murder - along with his two teenage daughters. It wouldn't be so bad ... but they got me into it!!!! Mind you - I've always been a Dick Van Dyke fan (I've long forgiven him for his cockney accent in Mary Poppins!)

I think they didn't see anything. Sykes was unmarked, but they were expecting to see a wound of some sort from the supposed fight he'd been in. So they gathered that there was something odd going on.

I assumed that John (at his wife's suggestion) was supposed to take Sykes to be 'doctored' (I believe it helps calm aggressive tendencies) so when they saw no stitches, etc, they realised he hadn't!

Its always painful for a man to take his four legged friend in to have his bollocks removed!

That wasn't where the bandages were, though.

Someone said erlier on in the thread that Barnaby pretended that the dog was injured and that the dog had to go everywhere with him until the ring was 'returned' as it were. I could sort of understand the bandage but no idea about the head collar.

It wasn't a bad episode... usual midweek mayhem and merryment.

The "lampshade" was supposedly to prevent Sykes biting at the bandage.

I realised that as soon as I'd posted - was going to correct it - but was in a hurry to get to our pub quiz. We didn't win either!

Why bother, just put the accursed creature down!

At least the script writers would have to do some work rather than relying on a mangy dog.

Someone with probably a bit more imagination then myself and some others on here, had worked out and mentioned that the bandages were just an excuse for him to keep the dog with him at all times, so that when it "dropped" the ring, he'd be able to retrieve it.
Ben and the pathologist were just confused that the bandages were unnecessary, but didn't know why.

It seemed a pretty lame addition to the plot, but as the dog is deflecting viewers' attention from daft plots and some lame acting, I guess they'll milk it for all it's worth.

Always a sign of desperation, lack of creativity and a depressingly weak plotline when script writers have to resort to

(a) - an animal

and / or

(b) - a young child.

and, if all else fails,

(c) - add a few cute little babies

I was expecting that Ben would get a promotion and leave, he didn't, the producers have stated that they are looking for a replacement, but unless I have missed it, itv have not announced a series 16 (although an unconfirmed source on Wikipedia says that an announcement was made via twitter). I cannot see much more mileage in this series; another 4 or 5 episodes (depending on how you count the pilot) will make the hundred.

The cow scene was pathetic.

Think you have to take this as a joke tbh.

I watched an old episode the other day and Neil Dudgeon was in it as someone else ... not Tom's brother or cousin or whoever he is

Here is an idea for John Barnaby's new sidekick:

Detective Sergeant Rachel 'Ray' Stoner

Age: 26

Birthplace: St Helens, Merseyside

Played By: Kerrie Hayes

It's weird that Gail disappeared from the show. She went from a background character, to featuring more and then disappearing
