Sykes is this "incarnation" of Nettles Cully, in for the comedy alone.

And it works too, so the producers got it right in their inclusion of the magnificent Sykes.....

It's just another example of what I coined as; "The Pantomime Factor" nearly six years ago.

I thought he was great in the role he was given. Not struggling at all.
It was the character that was struggling!

Just as he could have got back in the car, so could Cary Grant have just laid down in the cornfield to escape the plane. But it is "cinematic etiquette" not to do so.
As in in all dramas, where someone is being chased by a car, the form is to run forwards towards the camera, not turn to one side or other and duck down a side street to escape the car and be out of sight of the camera.”

I remember a similar scene in Midsomer Murders where someone was being chased by a combined harvester and could easily have run off to the side to avoid it.

What a terrible episode the story was boring, the characters did not hold the attention and worst of all the scenes with the planes you could see the close ups of the pilots were fake and the shots of the planes one minute bright sunshine next scene dark clouds.

In fact the murderer was so insignificant I only remembered one scene they were in before they were revealed.

Not overly keen on this episode. I'm not finding Nelson that engaging. Seems to have no personality so far. I know, none of them have really though!
Best bit was Sykes!

Special 100th episode this coming week. For anyone who watches The Killing or Borgen they will recognise the guest stars!

Notice that Gavin said it was the height of Summer in this episode (probably because this episode was filmed in the Summer). Isn't it a bit weird that Mrs. Barnaby is still pregnant then? She had a big bump in the Christmas episode.

I know this is because the episodes were filmed back to back, but they maybe should've been more careful about setting this episode earlier in the year so that the pregnancy timeline could make sense.

Does anyone think young Harry is the spit of DS Jones?

Can't act, though. He and the tea-shop girl would make am-dram look like the RSC.

While I was going through my JK recordings (sad I know) I saw something on ITV Nightscreen and I saw somebody that looked like jones. My initial thought maybe a cameo from jones tonight due it to being number 100

it makes " Dud Yins " terrible acting look even more ridiculous.
