Was this the first Midsomer Murders where
Spoiler
No the first episode (and still the best) was the Rainbirds who both got murdered I think there were 4 murders in first episode, the Rainbirds saw the first murderer from their window and blackmailed which is why they got killed.

I watched that again recently and thoroughly enjoyed it again. Just as much as when first broadcast all those years ago in fact. It's been downhill since then for me and can't help feeling it would have been better to have ended it when John Nettles retired.

You misunderstand my question, I wasn't asking about the first episode which I remember well.

I was surprised to find that Dennis rain bird was played by Brian Cants son because he reminded me of someone but I could never work out who

A good start for the new episodes. Loved the picture of Ben & Kate.

Nice also to see the rich guy who buys the hall who was in Teachers, shame Kate couldn't hang around as she was in it before. And Helen Baxendale as well as Monarch of the Glen (who was in the last series of Borgen. He doesn't look that bad!)

Interesting episode with no murder during the programme.

Great to see Sykes getting a bit more attention!
We weren't convinced it was Sykes but rather a lookalike.

..... We also thought this was one of the best episodes for ages. Loved the humour. The doctor/funeral director gay couple twist was hilarious. The fact that one of them was black - given the flak MSM got a year or so back for being too "white" - only added to the joke.

I don't think we need another smart arsed woman making men look stupid,it would be nice just to see women working with men as equals surely that's what feminism is about

The ticking of PC boxes on the programme is becoming a little tiresome. Does every episode now have to have at least one gay couple, one Asian, and one black person, plus one scene where a woman shows a man up? I accept it was very 'white' and stereotyped originally, but the quota approach is a little artificial, and too obvious.

Where did the electricity supply come from that powered all the electronic gubbins at the caravan in the middle of the woods, I could not even hear a generator running.

As for all the PC in MM this actually applies to just about every programme on TV, creeping into the advertising too. They are trying just too hard it is beginning to look so obvious and therefore silly.

How many times did she belittle Nelson last night it's enough that this happens in ads.

How did that 'space ship' blow up yet none of the trees got scorched

Let me say, as someone who worked in the scenes of crime/scientific aids department, that no one I ever worked with, had the "breathtaking" knowledge that she displays. She seems to be an expert at everything, takes hours to do extensive tests and analysis, what in reality would take a large team days if not weeks to produce results. Sorry I know it's for "telly" but is so far fetched as to be almost funny.

Another ridiculous plot. Would the Wingco still be a Wingco since 1984, without promotion or having been moved around the world.?

A lot of the backstory in this episode could have been taken from an alleged UFO incident near a USAF base in Suffolk in 1980
