I think I'm starting to dislike Neil Dudgeon as whatever Barnaby he is. He comes across as condescending to everyone from his wife to the victims relatives, and downright superior to anyone who could possibly be a suspect.
It may be that the actor is told to be a little light hearted when not dealing with the blood and gore, but somewhere along the way he's started coming across as a bit of a clever dick. He seems to treat everyone slightly less charmingly than Sykes. |

I do hope they are not now going to end every episode with a little four way get together.
Horribly cheesy. |

Sykes was very good, pity about the rest of them and the plot. As Lord Sugar would say, "What a load of old tut".

I didn't not enjoy it I just find the soco constantly belittling nelson a bit cringe making, and as an RAF brat I dislike the bad research
![]() As for the belittling SOSO surely Charlie and Kam will end up the very closest of colleagues before too long and will probably end up house sharing!!!

![]() It's nice that the actress is playing it quite subtly, and not banging us over the head with it. |

I wouldn't refer to Kam as a Scene of Crime Officer(SOCO), she's actually the new Pathologist. It's her job to determine cause of death & not much else. The fact that the scriptwriters have written her lines to suggests she's part of the investigation team is typical of all the other inaccuracies in MM these days. I can only assume Kam doesn't have any other work to do with other dead bodies.
It's exactly the same situation with Silent Witness. The Pathologists, mainly Dr. Nikki Alexander, doing the Police's job for them and usually getting herself in danger, with the police doing next to nothing. Compared to Morse/Endeavour, the USA CSI & NCIS series, the Pathologist occasionally visits the corpse before it's moved then remain in their Lab to concentrate on examining the body. |

I was thinking this very thing whilst watching! Was thinking 'Why on earth is she making deductions about how the person must have been disturbed etc? She's not a police officer!' In reality she'd be more than busy enough with her pathology work.
You have to accept that in order to be able to enjoy watching it. There are many glaring divergences from police procedure (e.g. DCI works with sergeant (or in earlier episodes constable) without intervening DI. DCI appears to work with no interference from more senior officers. Junior officer always appears to be informed well ahead of senior officer [Notice that Nelson is almost always at the scene before Barnaby]. There don't appear to be any detective constables in Midsomer (most of the time). In fact, a lot of these 'errors' appear in much more serious police programmes. |

The new pathologist is unpleasant. I strongly dislike the trend in adverts, that men are idiots and women are superiour.
Hopefully MM will not take that nasty turn. Smart women are perfectly capable of being polite. At least in the real world. And I am getting slightly annoyed by Charlie's far too casual clothes. Tom Barnaby and Ben Jones were always dressed in nice suits, fitting the occation. When dealing with murder suspects and grieving relatives, the police should be polite and dressed nicely. |

I think you have to accept that MSM takes no notice of actual police procedure.

..... We also thought this was one of the best episodes for ages. Loved the humour. The doctor/funeral director gay couple twist was hilarious. The fact that one of them was black - given the flak MSM got a year or so back for being too "white" - only added to the joke.
I watched it without subtitles, and English is not my first language. Were they gay? I did not see any kissing, or even hugging. And did not hear anything out of the ordinary.,? The white undertaker looked exactly like an undertaker

No, the not-murder bit ended with Felix's confession to mad bloke, then it went to Kam and Nelson of the unfeasibly large head going round to the Barnabys' house and the mystery of the pink, dog saliva infested, teddy being solved.

In the days when George Bullard was the Pathologist, Insp Tom Barnaby (much better than his cousin John IMO) would arrive at the scene and usually said "what have you got for me George"? George would give him his first opinions then clear off back to the Lab with the body to do the post mortem. You never saw him ferreting about at the crime scene for clues. If Tom wanted more information he went to see George, not the other way round. |

Then the Midsomer Police Authority must have amended the job description.

Midsomer Murders is back on form! This is probably the strongest the show has been since Neil Dudgeon's debut series. I'm not so sure that the cycling competition episode will be a hit but the last two were really good.

I see that Cully Barnaby(Laura Howard) turned up last night as a Police Woman in Emmerdale. I half expected someone to say, "Hello Cully, what are you doing here?"
