Guessed it was Julia Sawalha from the off simply because she is the best known actress in it.

Loved the original with John Nettles and love this incarnation with Neil Dudgeon. ...and...he treats his sargeant more humanely than JN ever did

![]() In the flashback of her murdering the vicar's brother, the spear only appeared to just go into the chair, rather than straight through it and him. To go through both the chair and a body would have required an awful lot of strength! I also miss the bonkers murders and century-old grudges. I had hope for all this Cicily Day nonsense turning out to be some kind of cult, but it wasn't. And Kam, who I thought was OK at the start, is now getting VERY irritating. Although I still like Barnaby and Nelson, I wish there was more of Sykes

As watched last night's episode and she was being held hostage with a knife to her throat, I just *knew* she was also gonna be some kind karate expert and would free herself by throwing the bloke over her shoulder. Its actually becoming the Kam and Nelson show but mainly the Kam Show. And seriously, can we stop with the Nelson/ Kam getting together rubbish that's being oh so subtly pushed. It has no part in the show |

Just popped in quickly to push for Sykes to be given the lead in an episode. He's a far better actor than at least a third of the cast!

Midsomer Murders colour
Midsomer Murders looks slightly grey and washed out? 'Casualty' seems to have the same effect.

putting aside the character being just quite unpleasant , she's not a very good actress.

There does seem to be some anti Christian bias in t.v. detective series, when it often seems that the vicar is the villain and not the good guy.

It's harmless enough, but it seems all a bit "am dram" to me.
The original "Barney Bee" had Joyce and Cully to make him seem less one dimensional. This one needs a wife, a baby and a dog. It ain't working. |

Property prices must be at rock bottom in Causton and the many surrounding villages with Midsomer as a prefix, over the years there is quite a number of them, dangerous villages to live in, some having three of four murders in quick succession
.

Whilst I do miss Kate, I actually like Kam. Probably the only viewer who does, judging by this thread.

BTW less of Sykes please, he's becoming a distraction rather than a witty extra. |
