Am I missing something? But why was the need for all the killing, as it turns out she was the heir to the fortune so wouldn't she she just have been entitled to it after the dig had finished?

I agree. I think Sykes is carrying the show at the moment.

Not at all.

She's absolutely fine.

I'm afraid it's just part of the lamentable misogyny on the Internet that causes people to incessantly harp on about female actors they don't like.

As far as I can see, the only thing that's causing a problem is the 'will the/won't they' thing they are ineptly setting up with Nelson - part of which is the whole 'superhuman' aspect of the character.

But I suspect that the incessant bleating going on here is more to do with a certain type of person who is uncomfortable with strong, intelligent, female characters - particularly if they show up men.

The accursed dog is only used as a filler to make up the time between ads.

It's an easy option for the writers - no script, no effort, no story line needed.

Wow... so if I don't like a female character or think a female actress is a bit shit that makes me a misogynist

what a seriously patronizing post.

Strong female leads do not need to belittle men in order to be considered strong. Look no further than Ellen Ripley for a strong female lead that doesn't constantly belittle men.
Or perhaps you'd like something a bit more lightweight as an example then look to Buffy. There are any number of strong female leads that do not spend the entire show making a man look like an idiot.

The only blinkers in this thread are those worn by you.

As a woman I agree with you. There are plenty of well written female characters out there, Olivia in Scandal for instance, where they dont need to make men feel small to be successful. I really dont like that kind of woman and Ive met a few. Its only a step away from bullying. I like Kam as a stand alone character, but this pairing with Nelson is embarassing. The will they wont they isnt realistic as in real life Nelson (and everyone else) ould find her a huge pain in the arse.

Sykes should get his own series: Sykes investigates.

I didn't find this week's episode especially impressive but I did like how they created a good deal of suspense in a number of scenes (like the break-in, and the later murders). I didn't manage to guess the true identity of the murderer this time, so fair play to them.

Yes, that one was shocking. I haven't seen it in years and only saw it once - maybe twice - but yeah, that was a gruesome one!

To be fair, they gave John Barnaby's 'psychological persuasion tactic' a rest for a while, up until last week's art-themed episode. I don't think he put his psychology degree to use last series, or in earlier episodes of this series like the bodysnatching/UFO/cycling episodes. They relied on that aspect of his character a lot in his first full series though. Though I don't see how we were encouraged to feel sorry for this killer?

3 episodes on the trot now where the killer was female who we were meant to be sorry for. What's happened to the grudges or even the male killers? Why is ever killer female? lol
”

As long as they have a male murderer next week, it will be 3 males and 3 females this series (yes, I'm counting the bodysnatcher). Sometimes there's a major imbalance though. Nearly all of the killers in Dudgeon's first series were male, and that was a long series compared to more recent ones. But then they were nearly all female in 2014 series... Hopefully it's a guy next week!

I think the producers have been pondering a DS/pathologist pairing for some time. Remember when they teased Jones and Kate during Jason Hughes' final series? In the episode about astronomy.

You're right. In fact, Nelson usually seems quite calm but he seemed decidedly aggressive when interviewing the vicar in this week's episode, so that didn't help.

I'm guessing you haven't watched the show before this series, because Sykes' role has been toned down. He had more screen time and focus in Dudgeon's first full series. He was more active generally. I guess he's getting older now.

Not to veer off-topic, but doesn't Aiden wear shirts and black trousers too?

Current problems I have with Midsomer:

Since the fuss about the lack of minorities we have to have one every episode now and they are never the murderer.

itv need to drop this insistence that there is a murder before nearly every commercial break just to try to keep the viewers from turning over.

For the last few episodes I have watchedit has ended with Barnaby talking to the murderer while Jones or Nelson creep round to grab them.

In the last episode did nobody hear a great digger ploughing through the village at midnight.

When the person ransacked the tent how did he manage to escape when there were open fields all around the tent surely one policeman would have seen them running.

BIB and they very wisely dropped it.

Nelson isn't scruffy he just isn't in a suit like Jones was.

Absolutely. It's annoying. When they're in every episode, there has to come a point where one of them turns out to be the killer.

That wouldn't be showing them in a positive light now would it?

That was the charm of the original MM also, I enjoyed Cully, she didn't add that much but when she did I enjoyed it. I remember when she got with the band manager (wasn't it? lol) and then got married and went to New Zealand didn't she?

In the early series, poor Cully got jobs and male attachments to suit the plots!

Missed last weeks and there doesn't appear to be a repeat available :/

At least this one has plenty of opportunity for some ingenious deaths down at the fair

The new series episodes on ITV aren't repeated, you have to catch up on ITV Hub. It will almost certainly appear on one of the ITV channels ITV3 or ITV Encore later in the year.
