Why was the butcher killed ? Did I miss something ?
trying to give as little of the plot away as possible:

because the murderer thought that he was going to expose them

I'm guessing you're a girly

It was sad that her "final appearance," was the mention that Barney Bee and Joyce had received a postcard from her.

Not much! Well, apart from the whole premise of the story!

He had gathered enough evidence to point to the perpetrator of the hit and run. He hadn't put it all together but was about to reveal all to the rest of the Watch who probably would have figured it out. So he had to be prevented from reporting to them.

Wherever they film this it is beautiful.
South Oxfordshire, one of my old stamping grounds, for the most part. There are a couple of Midsomer driving trails if you ever find yourself in that part of the world.

I cant believe how old Cheryl Lunghi looked in this episode.

I suppose we all have to age but she looks ancient now compared to how glamourous she used to look

Frances Barber looked the same as she did in 2 seasons of Silk

She planed an equally nasty piece of work there too

Which part did Cherie Lunghi play? She must have looked old if didn't recognise her.

Cherie Lunghi wasn't in this episode. She was in S18E04 (3/2/16) and also in S07E01 in both of which she looked an awful lot like Cherie Lunghi. Had she been in this episode it would have been the fastest return of a guest actor in Midsomer history! So just as well she wasn't.

Oh no, sorry what an idiot I am. I thought the character Ingrid was played by Cheryl Lunghi not Francis Barber.
