Yes you are correct, I should have realised this morning that I now do not have a single planned recording which is not part of a series link!
This product indeed seems to be a heap of xxxx ![]() Automan. |

Did your test recording start at 13:00 ? Or was it a one off and failed because of this bug.

has anyone had even the remotest of positive feedback from samsung themselves yet?
Of course it's going to be bug-ridden, that's what software updates are for - but expecting answers already is optimistic. |

"Of course it's going to be bug-ridden"
Why do you say this? A huge company like Samsung should have at least put SOME effort into testing. This product is an absolute disgrace. I was going to buy one of these this week, but seeing as though it seems incapable of performing even basic functions, I may have to buy the good old Humax - even though I'm loath to invest in a product that is already over 2 years old. Come on Humax - whatver happened to the HDR2? |

I contacted Humax and was informed there was no plans to replace the HDR even though it has been manufactured since 08. That is one of the reasons I decided on the samsung (fool!!)

That's the point of OTA updating, the first Sky HD boxes had to be updated before they would even work - but ALL Sky boxes should be updated before installation anyway. I would expect Samsung have puts lot's of effort (and even more money) in to testing so far, and that it's still on-going. |

You either release products, or you don't sell anything - such a complicated product is always released bug-ridden, it's pointless releasing bug-free outdated technology, it wouldn't sell.

The Malta Story and School Of Rock both recordable on a hdr Neither is series link coded Malta Story prog crid 15988/001 School Of Rock prog crid 38888/001 Why the box won't record both is baffling ![]() http://foxsat-hdr.wikispaces.com/Freesat Last picture shows CRIDs for Channel 4 programme. I believe Samsung box doesn't handle CRIDs with a slash at the main part properly. This shall be fixed very easy, the only question is when we could expect a software update... |

Once you have registered the product at Samsung you can report problems... Model number to put BTW is SMT-S7800/XEU Quote:
Hi, Are you aware of the major problems with the software on this product? Automan.
I thought being a Samsung I would be onto a winner but no ![]() 1. Impossible to set more than one record movie on Film4 or any other chn4 family of channels. Anymore and the box reports item is already scheduled. 2. Scheduled recordings for one off recordings vanish from the timer. 3. Record from Guide of a BBC program often set recordings on another BBC region. 4. Recording a HD BBC program often ends up with BBC1 SD Northern Ireland being recorded. 5. Parental control settings and any channel changes are lost after power down. 6. Ends of some program recordings are cut off and no option to increase end or start padding times. 7. HDMI audio issue. I have to set my Sony amp to pass audio to TV to get any sound out of AMP. No such issue with all my other HD components. 8. If you were last watching a HD channel with DD sound and you try and play music from USB you get no sound. Regards |

And Youview is delayed until....................?
Youview have already confirmed they are releasing on Freeview first. It could be a couple of years before they release a Freesat version. As long as Samsung come out this week and confirm they are aware of the problem and are working on a solution, it will be enough for me not to return the box (just because I cannot be bothered with the hassle). Has everyone e-mailed Freesat about this also? They are partly culpable due to putting their name to a shoddy product. They may be able to put some pressure on Samsung to fix this. |

It looks from other posts that the box simply won't record anything that does not have a series flag.
With all but the chn4 family of channels you can set a recording. But now it would seem if we could set it to record film4 films it would then not record them because of the second bug that planned recordings which do not have series links vanish from the schedule list. The scheduled recordings of non series items are listed for a while and I wonder if they are lost when the box goes into standby (like parental data). I shall test shortly.... Automan. |

I don't think that is quite the case.

I recorded Louis Theroex last night, but I literally only added it to the schedule 5 minutes before it started. Do we only lose items from the schedule when the box goes into standby?

Youview have already confirmed they are releasing on Freeview first. It could be a couple of years before they release a Freesat version. So YouView haven't said they are releasing Freeview first, as far as I'm aware it's Humax who have said that - quite rightly, as Freeview is a massively larger market, and Humax don't seem to be large enough to develop on two platforms at once. |

I set five non series link recordings and let box go into low power standby. Powered up and check and all were still present. Thus I would guess they vanish during the night, perhaps when it does a channel scan or something. Will check they are present later and again in the morning. Automan. |

Probably obvious: The losses of a few minutes at the end of a programme recording suggest the box is stopping the recording at the time set for it to stop whilst the programme transmission is running late. ie It is not waiting for an end prog signal or a start of next prog signal.
Whether it starts on time (by the clock) or on time for the prog start itself could be determined by whether you have a few minutes of other stuff at the beginning of the recording. Lack of manual time settings / non-series linked repeat recording settings eg 1/week, 1/dM-F etc put all eggs in the basket of reliable epg driven recording, and clearly is not succeeding. The broadcast must be sending the correct signals if HDR's can start and finish at the actual prog transmitted times so it's in the Samsung sw where the fault lies. My technisat HDFS has no epg driven one off or series link but can set recordings both from epg data and manually and you can adjust with pre- and post-roll times or manually. I have been holding back from buying a second HDFS to achieve a 2 tuner solution using one for freesat mode and one for technisat mode. I was waiting for a HDR2.... or this Samsung or the Echostar (who have replied promptly that it has no diseqc so is no use for me). I can wait still longer but do hope Samsung make some form of meaningful response soon! |

There is another possibility. Broadcaster can send the signal, that the programme is finished too early and samsung box just stops recording.
